One nice thing about the... One nice thing about the desk, It slides towards you. So when not in use, I can make it 31" and pull it as much as 37" towards me. Now, it won't look right in this room?that's for certain?but this is not a design choice but a health requirement. I am getting it in Medium walnut. I really wanted it in gray but I don't think the exposed laminate looks good . If anyone thinks that mixing the light bamboo, dark kitchen cabinets and then this medium walnut color is a bad idea?please let me know as i'm about to purchase! thanks again for the help!

And one other thing the name of this forum is "Design Addict" not "Material Addict" or "Composition Addict" The name of the forum should tell you that, yes the overall shape, the very "design" of a thing is relevant. As an aside; well put Setag and WHC.
The only thing I see... | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | HP | General discussion
The only thing I see... The only thing I see happening to designers will be increased unemployment. Manufacturers and advertisers will feel the brunt of any backlash which will probably come from politicians who won't want to alienate voters with direct criticism. The average consumer if he has any sense of self reflection will only feel guilt and regret...but its all speculation really. What I hope to see in the future is standardisation and increased analysis of systems of production across different industries. It would require compromise but its would be so good to see component "x" be designed so that it can fit into product A B and C without alteration.

I think the thing that ... I think the thing that really blows my mind is that Vitra is manufacturing it, and the vitra write up says made possible by computer-assisted design methods.' If that is the case any one would a good softwear program could really get after it, right HP? you know about designing chairs and from the looks at the one chair you had on the forum it looked pretty good, I could see something like B B Italia or some other company making this chair, but to come out of Vitra that would be like Knoll or Herman miller making it here in the USA

and one more thing, we manufa... and one more thing, we manufacture everything to original design except when we substitute paint for stain. Thus you are getting an original design that has been painted. We have also made the black paint so universal, you can purchase any black paint to fix when easily scratched.

A thing I've noticed with mor... A thing I've noticed with more formal upright seating, when used with an ottoman, it can increases the comfort level. Something to consider. Now try finding a Girard ottoman... The chair you bought dances! A little imagination and the chair can segue into a Jazz dance...maybe some toe tappin. Find a mate for it and they'll do an Austrian Waltz...some Argentina Tangos...or downhome square dance.

I see the same thing happenin... I see the same thing happening on CL. Items sitting longer and people setting unrealistic prices based on what they see on the internet. Google search allows anyone to become a self-appointed, instant MCM expert and to wildly overstate their utter crap as something that it isn't. In addition, bargain hunting on CL, in thrift stores, etc with the intention of flipping has now become a mainstream public activity, thanks to certain TV programs promoting the mentality that anyone can snag a bargain and turn a profit.

In Texas were every thing... In Texas were every thing is bigger they call the Rolex "The Texas Timex" cause every one had one in the 1980's It truly is amazing , people who own Rolexs are very protective and proud of them , I like watches and have several, I like my Brightling chromate and i have a cool Porsche watch also, but the Rolex is so rich in history and design, it is amazing what great styles that over the years they have managed to come up with.(love the rosegold of the early 50's a killer)

Education is a weird thing. I... Education is a weird thing. In general, I love sharing my limited knowledge with others, but it becomes such a conflict of interest when you're dealing with a seller who doesn't know what they have. Do you educate and run the risk of them raising the price? Or do you temporarily shut down your conscience to get a good deal? Such irony in life...... I don't mean to hijack the thread, but would love to hear others' experience in that regard.

The other thing to bare in... The other thing to bare in mind is exchange rates, the dollar has been fluctuating in recent weeks. Also its worth condisdering how you are going to be valued as a buyer of this furniture by the sellers. As initially its going to be a one-off trip purchase, so its possible the sellers are more likely to deal with, and give faveorable prices to the Danish dealers, who are in-turn more likely to buy from them on a regular basis. At the end of the day it all comes down to knowledge of your market and potentional vendors, export costs, plus calculating the risk against cost.

One thing i hate about these ... One thing i hate about these overly-staged rooms... So am I to assume that someone is going to sit by themselves in the corner of the room on that plastic chair, 10 feet away from the coffee table? Or is the chair just a sculptural piece, or conversation starter? I see this in magazines all the time. Shouldn't furniture be arranged in practical, usable ways? Such as near a table of some sort, or near other furniture in a conversational grouping? Maybe next to a lamp so you could read? Just a pet peeve.

For one thing ? your problem... For one thing ? your problem would be improved if SUV drivers who do not need the cargo space ? who drive it just bc ? would get cars instead. I know the type you speak of, but you can't put everyone in the same light. Why don't we just go on making generalities about gays, blacks and women while we're at it. Sorry to go overboard - and I am not saying you are this person - but I have met one too many pinko yuppies that bitch about SUVs simply bc it's popular to bitch about. In addition - it isn't only SUV drivers that cause problems on the road due to cellphones. That is people in general in any type of vehicle.

One thing I've noticed recent... One thing I've noticed recently is dealers totally abusing the free listing of CL. In the Bay Area, some shameless dealers would literally put 100's of items on CL everyday using keywords that would cover every major designer and period. Not only that, they'd be renewed every single day. So when I browse on CL, I'd see the same crap multiple times a day. In fact, most of what they sell is crap. It's really frustrating because it makes it even harder to find anything meaningful.
