| Gudme Mobelfabrik Dining Room Table - Identification | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | LTRinENC | General discussion | |
| In the mid 1980's my wife and I purchased a Gudme MobelFabrik dining room table (photo attached). We are giving the table, and the 2 leaves, to our daughter and our son-in-law. While disassembling the table to be able to transport it, we found that there is a 4 digit number on the bottom of the table - 8302. Does anyone know if this represents the model number, a manufacturing date, or something else? Any information will be more than appreciated! In advance, thank you very much! | Meadmore Dining Table | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | tick | General discussion | |
| Meadmore dining Table I recently bought a dining table designed by Clement Meadmore. The original owner had purchased the table with matching chairs to go in the kitchen of her 1950's modernist home she had designed by Australian architect Robin Boyd. The Ednie house, named after the owners, was featured in home magazines of the period, including photos of the dining table. I spoke to the original owner of the table over the phone prior to the auction and she informed me that she had used the table for painting throughout her life. Mrs Ednie is a highly rega ... | |||||

| My Ile Sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living divani Hi, I bought the Ile Sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living divani, in the black Leather florence version. It's comfortable as I will rate this one 8/10. It's been two weeks since it went in my house and I am more than happy to have this beautiful piece of design. I am saving to buy the other part, called la Meridienne. You can have a look here on the pictures below. Next to it, a set of Bang & Olufsen Beolab 4000 (as for the rear on a Dolby digital 5.1 A/V set-up). Cheers, Raydee27 | |||||

| Culling and digitizing I own too many books and don't have a home library, so I try to give away most books after reading them. (I do catalog titles at LibraryThing.com in case I want to replace them in the future.) I keep unique books such as those with my marginalia or childhood books whose physical texture, smell and design are important to me. Otherwise, I want my library to be digitized and look more and more like this: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PRS-700BC-Reader-Digital-Book/dp/B001HHZ1S6/r... | |||||

| The Distance Between Designer and Person Designed For Pt 5 | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| The distance Between Designer and Person Designed For Pt 5 So: what designers were designing for by the end of the 20th Century and early 21st Century, were persons with credit cards effectively without credit limits (compliments of the covergence of private central banking and digital information technologies), so lied to by governments, news organizations, advertisers and public relations firms and intelligence organizations disseminating propaganda through as many media paths as they deem useful in any given strategic situation, that designers are now des ... | |||||
| Digital = Better | 2 Relevance | 22 years ago | Diego | General discussion | |
| Digital = Better Photography has given Designer's the choice to use different images, action shots, still-life etc, and use them to create graphic advertising, poster etc. Digital Technology in '85 has changed this, now Designers can manipulate images, changing colours, even the entire image using computer software, another breakthrough of the 1985 realm. Now advertising is mainly a digital image, stored onto a computer, and manipulated, used, and created into advertising bunf. Its made advertising much more ambigious and offers the designer more options for ... | |||||

| I use it as a form of digital design syringe...:-) I am a layman and not a designer. I am tolerated and given proper disrespect from time to time. 🙂 I am delighted to have the privilege of reading what these folks have to say. To meet them as unusually knowledgeable human beings, rather than as clients or colleagues, is a treat. I use it the following ways: 1. I ask questions about old furniture I have found to see if the pieces have any significance and see if there are markings to confirm that significance. (Note: I try to do this as little as possible, as ... | |||||
