I cant believe that the astick clock that came out three years ago is no longer made by Howard Miller (that one is a classic Now) what is with this company they act like they could ...

There's also some clipping and trimming needed as you go---just basic stuff when sewing curves but it makes a huge difference in the appearance of the finished thing. I think you will might want to do separate pieces for the back and the front, too. It will help a bit to define the shape, especially at the corners when you're placing the hanging loops.

| I wouldn't even call that a cheat! It's just something you have to do to make up the difference every now and then when weaving cane. It happens with paper cord, too. As long as the extras are evenly distributed, it's fine. One strand extra here and there is not noticeable but if you had a regular pattern of two strands and then suddenly a clump of four or five, that would not be good. | |||||

| Hi, sorry for having missed it. Spanky, thank you for taking the time to explain! Another thing I wanted to ask: I find it very complicated to post anything from my mobile phone, as it asks to verify that I am not a robot, and you need to click on all these images with cars, store fronts, and so on, but when I write from my PC I do not have to do it. Is there a reason for this difference? Cheers Ernest | |||||

| ... like that. I'm very much in the camp of keeping City Hall where it is. Menino's plan moves the center of city business away from the city center, to a location that is accessible by car and a single busline. (the current locale is accessible by two differen subway lines, bus lines, and good old fashioned roads) However, as much as i love the building, I have to disagree with you about the plaza. I think the plaza is a scorched wasteland that seriously needs to be torn up and planted with grass. Or trees. Or anything that is vaguely lifelike. The plaza ... | |||||

As for the Roman numeral clock, I believe it too is Nelson. I haven't checked my catalogs recently, but I actually have one sitting in my desk at work. It has the period Howard Miller label and is just a differen iteration of the ball clock. I guess it's trying to be a mix of the old and the new with the features of a ball clock but using old school numbers. I'm not sure it works ...

I do not think that it is just a "last man standing" win, although I sometimes have that impression to. My policy has always been that that the design was done by "the office" (reason why I have never used my name in the name of the office) and I have always allowed everybody who was there at that particular time to share the credits and to use it in portfolios etc. It is sometimes seen as a dis-service to the industry because it ...

In doing so the thickness of the lacker layer changed according to the pattern of the leather. In some places the gold leaf was barely covered and gave the red a rich glow, creating an intriging pattern, alternating with the bordeau red were the hide was thinner and the lacker thick and deep. One of the employees at the wholesaler of the leather spend the morning lifting one hide after the other, with his client, the f ...

| What leif said. Here's a pickle I'm in, currently: Dunbar table with Rosewood veneer and ebonized trim. Leaves (on the left) kept in a box forever. Taped and sealed with shellac and a thin coat of lacquer to prevent dye bleed. My choices now are to tone it to match, or attempt sanding deeper. Neither one is great, but because I have barely sanded this top at all, I'm going to try that first. Probably not going to make a ton of difference with those black streaks, but any reddish-brown tones I can restore will be worth it. I hate toning this wood. | |||||

| ... starters, can anyone help identify the wood type(s) of this chair. I know that a lot of these come in teak, or a combination of teak (back rest) and oak (frame), but I am somewhat uncertain of this one. It appears the back rest is teak (?), and the cruciform inserts are oak veneer, but I am unsure of the frame - oak? teak? To complicate things, it seems that the frame and the back of the back rest have been stained at some point, you can see a remarkable difference between the front of the back rest and the back side. There are parts of the frame where the ... | |||||
