| Hi Minimoma. Thanks for digging up my thread among all the Chinese spam! I agree with you, it does look like a marriage and the Nelson link does look very much like this top. Pulls are the same, slightmy different construction of the caninets and a little thicker top. But Nelson and Miller are at least in the same circle of friends. There was licensed production of Eames and Knoll furniture and they sometimes differ slighlty in construction and materials. But another thing that speaks against this being original is that the height is stated as 78cm which i ... | |||||

| . Diffeent types of saw indeed, these are very good although if you're feeling like more of a traditionalist Lie Nielsen sell joinery sets that while expensive are excellent. I've gone back to more handwork, its cheaper, quieter and safer and unless you are batching out something often faster and more convenient, and the neighbours won't complain! On the other hand I agree with SDR about the table saw...as he says it depends on what you want to do and you don't have to be a purist either, sometimes you'll want to use a machine one minute and a hand tool the next, who wants to hand cut a mortise? Not this guy, ever. If you are finding yourelf wanting to take it seriously but can't afford the good tools just stop and save for it and sketch your ideas until you can, it is horrible having to struggle with poor quality gear...I wish someone had given me that advice 5 years ago. Actually the LN set is only 1500 bucks, you'd still need a bench, a cross cut saw and some squares and marking out tools but 'd say for 2k you could set yorself up with top notch basic gear, some guys pride themselves on restoring old Stanleys and having a shop that looks like a museum, cool if you've got time for that sort of thing I suppose. Then you need to get some wood....sorry thats probably all a bit too much info but I hope it helps. Actually that LN set is more limited than I thought. http://www.lie-nielsen.com.au/catalog.php?grp=1460 | |||||

This company was also chosen to deliver furniture to the restored Mies van der Rohe Tugendhat house in the 80´...If you guys really think that the quality of the chinese copies from Mojo and 1929 and others is fantastic you must be comparing the pieces to your bachelor apartment Ikea furniture... If your teak interior is already sun-bleached or blond, using a two-part wood bleach or Leif's concoction may or may not affect the surrounding color. As always with such treatments, experimentation is recommended. It's a rare occasion when mine might differ from Leif's advice. What kind of boat is It? | help with a herman miller fiberglass stamp?? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | joe101 | General discussion
| Hi, I have recently acquired 2 fibreglass shell eames chairs. The overall look and condition seems to stack up to an original chair, however, the stamps seem to differ from what I have seen before. They both carry the herman miller logo, but neither have 'Herman Miller' embossed under the logo. 1 has a 'V' stamp next to the logo and the other has an 'S'. All the others I have seen carry both the logo and the text embossed underneath it. Is it possible these are still genuine? Or did they never produce this format. Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated. T ... | |||||

Also, did this come in walnut and teak or just teak? In short, is there a go to Knoll authentication source for older pieces such as these Attachment: IMG_2509.JPG Attachment: IMG_2513.JPG Attachment: IMG_2512.JPG
| Eames padded shells with stange embossed logo...help! | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | Mrdujour | Identification | |
| Hi all, I'm having some trouble identifying this embossed logo on 2 padded shells I picked up a while back. Nobody mentions it in any of the research I've done so far, so I'm hoping somebody here will have some info! Another thing about these shells that seems to differ from the norm, is that the injection holes are located toward the back, and line up across the seat, as opposed to lining up down the middle where the base attaches. I don't know if the following info would help or not, but throwing it in anyway: the material on these is either a dark orange, ... | |||||

| ... Knoll Tulip side table (about 15-20 years old) that generally held up quite well, but has yellowed slightly and shows a few scratches and hairline cracks. It's nothing extraordinary given its age, but the one we are planning to buy is a coffee table for a family with small kids etc., meaning that it will be used heavier and on a more regular basis than the side table.Knoll claims in their promo videos that you can spill anything on it no problem (red wine, coffee etc.), which is reassuring, but I would be happy about any first-hand experience from this ... | |||||
