| new vs. vintage Although the chair has been made in diff heights ( I think it's a great idea !) and diff colors in the past, currently it is only produced by Kartell in white, with a SH of 43 cm (see page 40 in .pdf in attach). Other colors are vintage only. It retailed new last year (2009) for 122 EUR (more specs in .pdf). I considered it at one point as terrace furniture (for reasons unknown, most plastic outdoor chairs are extremely ugly, i have no clue why). But I did not buy them: I did like the hole (rain water can get away), the color, and the not-ext ... | |||||

| The key is mostly in the... The key is mostly in the underside of the base, and the shape of the casting. The first coating was porcelain, and later rislan or thick plastic. Modernica has a gritty base finish with a flat bottom. Knoll's are webbed inside the base and some had optional weights inside the webbing. The plywood is also a key to spotting them, but that is more experience to see a real diff. Don | |||||

| ... seats are one of my fave pet peeves, so I liked the cite tremendously and could not resist repeating it. Hope I will be forgiven for it. However, I believe this is only a moderate sized forum, while the seat you mention is not that common. So I am afraid you will not reach a large sample size of people who have actually sat in that sofa. Even if some people reply, please be aware that diff people have diff physical shapes, with diff length of legs, etc. Unless a lot people (overall, regardless of individual differences in bodily appearance) respond with the ... | |||||

| but but i can imagine that it has been easier for a newyork student to go and study design in california then it use to be for a portugues student to go and study in norwege. because of all the different languages and countries it was harder to mix up (for exemple) the norwegian and portuguese style. since europe is becoming more a fact and special exchange programs are existing now (and the recognition by the different countries of the valueness of the degrees) i think we'll see slightly more homogenic european style (in a few decades). when i was a student ... | |||||

| Get a copy of The Caner's... Get a copy of The Caner's Handbook, which is still in print and easy to find online. It has very clear instructions for weaving this type of seat. But as I said in the other thread where you asked about this, it's a very diffcult seat to weave well, especially with papercord. You must keep the turns exactly square. There's really no room for error. Good luck. http://www.amazon.com/Caners-Handbook-Bruce-Miller/dp/0937274607/ref=sr_... | |||||

| Fritz Hansen Swan Chairs - What do the #'s mean? | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | Lou | General discussion | |
| I have two Fritz Hansen Brown leather swan chairs that are have two different #'ed tags on them. I think that the diffence might be that one is adjustable up and down by a set screw. Both are adjustable forward and back. The one that is adjustable up and down has a #0365 and the other one is #'ed 1064. If anyone can give me a date on these chairs I would appreciate it. The chairs have been in the family since at least the early 60's. Thanks | |||||
