| I beg to differ | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | bustelo | General discussion | |
| I beg to differ I have several pieces of furniture based on this design principle. My experience is that the failure occurs at the attachment points. While the structure is amazingly strong, the laminations are compromised when screwed to the frame. A heavy or aggressive occupant causes great stress and the wood begins to separate and fail at the joint. I have a few pieces of robust furniture that I discreetly direct my stout visitors towards, so that they can better admire the more sensuous pieces of course. 😉 | |||||

| @pnw_dragon, Your boxes may differ from others'. For me, it has nothing to do with the piping aligning perfectly or the money. Cute pets, though! | |||||

| Looks to me as though the sideboard was originally a cabinet with a bookshelf on it. That would explain the alternative veneer to me, the left side definitely doesn't appear to be teak, so as all have suggested here you can try to colour match with dye stain but it'll be a job getting it just right. And even the the refractive properties of the wood may differ, so the colour may not match in all lights | |||||

| Beg to differ Eames office conducted research to how best put together a chair. That may be true for this Piece but .. Back in the day technology was not the way it use to be.The reason why Herman Miller would have the Rights to the licence could be just because they were the highest bidder to the contract or the designer decided to go with their production line. JUST BECAUSE Companies Like KNOLL,HM,IKEA or Who ever the hell have the License and Specs according to Designer Does not Own the rights to the Best Reproduced furniture. IE I highly doubt that chrom ... | |||||

| Oh, and here is the differenc... Oh, and here is the difference in that one chair vs. the rest. The first picture is what 5 of them are like. It has "Patent applied for" stamped on it. The second is the loner chair and it has been recovered and has a darker finish, but the original cover is underneath. I'm not sure of the shape or if the darker finish was original or not. Haven't really looked to closely yet. The one of the original sticker does not have the brand in it, but not all of the other five have the brand. It just seems so random. | |||||

| Despite the obvious differenc... Despite the obvious difference, they are absolutely by the same hand. A lot of Hoglund's iron and glass works have a strong Swedish folk art influence. Other pieces, like mine, are more purely modernist. Lisa, on all his pieces the iron parts were done by either Axel Stromberg or Ystad Metall, and the glass by Boda. | |||||
| The only main difference that | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | _ | General discussion | |
| The only main difference that I can see are the radiused corners of the (earlier) American made Knoll Associates interior drawers compared to the (later) European Knoll International version otherwise, it is an identical interior drawer construction with very minor adjustments/modifications in the shape of the parts mainly the shape of the second piece from the front. Florence Knoll (the designer) is still with us at 100 years young, maybe she gets to decide... Thanks David S & Chase for sharing your interior drawers. | |||||
| Oak extending dining table identification - similar to Arne Hovmand-Olsen | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | danish nut | General discussion | |
| Help needed to identify a mid century oak extending dining table. It is similar to Arne Hovmand-Olsen but has several points of difference. The legs are set at right angles to the top whereas the AHO table has slightly splayed legs, the apron is straight not curved, the stretcher is higher and the fixing bolts are not visable being concealed behind oak plugs. This is a wonderfully crafted table (although the photos dont do it justice). The table has no markings of any description so no ready means of identification. Would dearly love to know who designed it ... | |||||
| What a difference better | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | Zephyr | Identification | |
| What a difference better pictures make. I take back most of my original observations and certainty. I would agree that now that I can actually see it, that it does look more likely to be Northern European. I still say that it is not rosewood, and would agree that a slightly stained teak or walnut is more likely. Those pull out trays on the side should be the feature that helps identify the table, if anything. I will keep looking. | |||||

| Help- price difference two identical lights | 2 Relevance | 11 years ago | Slon | General discussion | |
| Hi, I need an advice. I just bought a wall light from the shop in Holland. The price was very high but I decided to get since I've been looking for this lamp for some time. Now, I just saw identical lamp ( in good condition) on another Dutch website which is cheaper for 450 euros! This is a massive difference in price. The shop where I bought it doesn't have a written refund policy. What should I do? Should I tell them about the other lamp? Do I have a right to request the refund or renegotiate? Thanks! | |||||
| Hvidt dresser help / dimensions needed | 2 Relevance | 11 years ago | glassartist | General discussion | |
| I have a Hvidt / Molgaard dresser like the one pictured, the only difference is mine is on legs. It is missing the mirror. If anyone has one, I need the dimensions and some good pics of the mirror for the frame profile, backing board, hardware, etc so I can make one. Of course, if you happen to have one laying around you don't need, that would work too. Thanks in advance. | |||||

| Help! Difference between HM and Vitra (?) version | 2 Relevance | 20 years ago | 3L | General discussion | |
| I need your help. I have an old Eames lounge chair (Vitra, I guess as I bought it in Paris) and wanted to replace the cushions which are quite scrached. I've found a set of HM cushion with the same fixing system from Ebays US. I discovered when trying to do the replacement that the HM cushions are 2/3 cm shorter than the existing ones! Could some one confirm that Vitra and HM versions haves different sizes? Many thanks | |||||
