| Greg S Studied up on the Evinrude MFE 55 and it sure seems like a diesel. It also seems like Evinrude is trying not to call it a diesel. They even refer to kerosene instead of diesel fuel. Thanks for the heads up. It may be just what I need. Still wish I could figure out what boat you have. Maverick makes a plastic boat, but it does not appear to have the hull design yours does. | |||||
| Evinrude multi fuel? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Greg S | General discussion | |
| Evinrude multi fuel? I don't know what is meant by "multi fuel" but Evinrude has a new one listed. I took it to mean it could run on gasoline or diesel. MFE 55 HP in grey or blue. Used by the US military, available to you and me through any Evinrude dealer. | |||||

| Antonella.. of course James really knows that Marc the Nuisnce sits in his Pod office (Poffice?) staring into a black hole and using telepathy he simply "wills" his creation that is the Carrara storage to appear from the earth and to be fashioned by the angels, then it will just appear in punters homes ( via galleries of course), but of course even angels use diesel vans to get it to its destination sometimes. | |||||

| ... the designers's 'premium' if you will -- that portion gets marked up. plus the weak dollar, expensive shipping from europe b/c of a high demand for diesel fuel and competition for asian-north america routes, etc etc. i'm not saying they're not sweet, but that US$12k for a sofa is kind of silly -- and no i cannot afford that, but even then, it still seems silly. | |||||

| ... it seems fair that a little "flack" should come with the territory. By the way, I don't have an air conditioner. At all. I probably would have one if I lived in Phoenix. But I live near the coast in the SF Bay Area. My refrigerator is less than one half of the usual American beast-sized refrigerator. It's what you might call "small apartment sized". But you are generally right about America's ugly waste when compared to Europe's ugly waste. I live surrounded by beast-mobiles, some very close to the size of yours. And I'm sure the refrigerators in my neighbo ... | |||||

| ... environmentalists insist on switching cars from internal combustion to hybrids, clean diesel and hydrogen, but the simple, painless notion of substituting good bread for toasters has got DesignAddicts backpedalling. How can we expect hundreds of millions of Americans to give up their SUVs, to give up their McMansions, to give up their energy sink high rise coops and luxury hotels, when DAers are not even willing to give up their toasters? 🙂 God forebid that I had advocated giving up coffee presses for tap water. | Dear SCS Instead of posting short slogans, could you just try to share with us why you think that "this is getting ridiculous". We may all learn something. Dear DC, I did read the warning at the end of your contribution, but I read it as a warning about the difference in scale. Of course I agree with the obvious difference in scale, but that is not my point. My point was about making choices and how easy or difficult it is to make the right choice. It seems to me that the choices designers have to make are not as black and white as your example suggests. Sec ... | |||||

| Greg S...I believe it is the outboard equivalent of... gasoline cars running on ethanol with flex fuel engines. I doubt it is an actual diesel, but I will look anyway. Many boat engines are getting harmed by ethanol laced gas, as have been reputedly many car engines. In fact, probably the largest motivator to spreading ethanol gas is NOT to reduce dependency on foreign oil (note: the amount of oil you avoid by lacing gasoline with ethyl alcohol is probably a net negative when you combine ethanol's reduced mileage and power per gallon plus the HUGE petroleum ... | |||||

| This is an interesting mystery... Perhaps you have a boat imported from elsewhere by an individual, say, a Polycraft from Australia, or something like a Terhi from Finland, though neither of these seem like direct knockoffs of a BW. I hope someone can solve this mystery. I can't. Mr. de Winter grows rather encyclopedic in his design knowledge about whatever he designs, though his main bag is not boat design. Perhaps he (or someone else here) might have stumbled across an HDPE Whaler clone. Regardless, you have very nearly the boat I want! Or maybe I want one ... | |||||

This works for individuals, too worried to spare a cent to see the real advantage of buying once for all, instead of buying some cheap crap that will need to be replaced in a blink. I'm talking either furniture, devices, appliances, light bulbs. Why turning the light off if in 5 or 10 minutes I'll get in the room again? (nobody sayd that but is it still true that CFL bulbs need to be turned on for more than 1 hour to be really money saving?). Then, it's easier to walk to the bin with ... | |||||
