| Obtaining complete vintage kitchens in UK | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Lit Up | General discussion | |
| ... very keen to buy. Why can you only buy "English rose kitchens" in the UK, if you want to go vintage? What else is there? sorry but i think all that aluminum is fugly and if i hear "english rose" again I'll go beserk. Anyway, where are these other kitchens? Is it just a question of keeping an eye out on eBay and gumtree for when someone's granny dies? All the stuff I've seen on eBay has thus far been pure tat - exclusively white, "shabby chic" free-standing cupboards that look far too feminine. Nothing strong, robust and fitted. | |||||

| ... problem. If you look on the radar you will find no products of the sort. If you can't afford a real barcelona chair (I can't either) then just live with that reality and get something else. We are DESIGN addicts, not STYLE addicts. Perhaps the people who have been burned by purchasing from shady Chinese companies should find a site devoted to style only to bellyache to. Design is about the designer, and his/her process. Anything other than the original has lost this element of soul and history and is style only. Design is forever. Style changes, dies, re ... | |||||

| Most over-rated TV show in... Most over-rated TV show in history. Predictable characters, mickey mouse writing and acting performances that were mailed in. Everytime a customer comes in and says "omg that dresser is just like the one on Mad Men!!" or "Do you watch Mad Men?? You need to see the furniture on there!!" a part of me dies. | |||||

| yeah glassartist but.... If you only leave it to the "experts" I think that is a formula for what eventually becomes a very static and stale language. It eventually dies if it is only in the academics hands. (Most of the good stuff happens because people don't have a clue that they have no buisiness trying that! LOL Too much awareness of the "rules" drains all the life out of everything. What about the simple power of all that street art that has had such a bearing on the "establishment art world" now? Sometimes, the trade off of "learned art language skills ... | |||||

| Very amusing thread. For those buying phones, computers, notepads or MP3 players, Jobs headed a good company coming up with cool ideas. I don't know if Jobs actually designed the look of these devices. I own/and or use only two Apple products; iTunes to arrange the music I have on my computer and a classic iPod, which I bought second hand. At this point, a smart phone, notepad, or a MAC computer is not something I'm interested in. If Apple lives or dies by the CEO of the company, then I'm afraid they're going to have a bumpy road ahead. | |||||

Second, the Modernica site says that they purchased the design, likely from Koch+Lowy vs. Nelson's estate, so it seems that Modernica now has the right to produce this and are now the proper owners of the design copyright. If K+L produced the lamp into the 1980's then the copyright's are likely still in force here, and public domain release hasn't happened yet. I will NEVER understand what it is about the modern desi ...

If you can figure out a way to design something that can be removed from the heating element, that would be a welcome change. Sometimes I want to grab it and take it to the cup instead of bringing the cup to it. If it ever dies I will, too. I will cremate myself and use it as an urn.

| Yeah, I'm tired, bored and kinda annoyed with all the 'what is this chair' 'where do I get a replacement widget' types of posts there are SO many of them. And then there's the lovely M@hog@ny Assoc thread that never dies. Wish we could talk more about actual design (both product and space)and about creating homes we love to live in. | |||||
