Björn Winblad i had the toughest time reading his name on the scarf and when i called Niemans they could not figure it out but then they had someone who had been at the store for 30 years and new his history, I now know too, he died last year and did lots of studio pottery for Rosenthal china, but he will be most famous for all the covers he did for Niemans and he designed the original restaurants for their stores kinda like a Alexander Girard ,

| The 1st 3 my late friend owned the top 3 items, items he bought off the dying Braniff office in Minneapolis as they were going out of business. They were in typically great condition, except for the petrified foam. When he died, he donated his Girard suite to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. One feature about this grouping is how low to the floor they were. The couch was very low. There must be a story about why Herman Miller discontinued them so soon as after they made them available for general sale (1 year). | |||||

| iMac therefore iAm Altho technically I have a powerbook. I swore I would never go to mac...then 2 computers caught virii and died in a matter of 6 months. I've never been more satisfied 😀 I also think its great that Mac has produced some of the most relevant design 'icons' of this era. What George Nelson did for furniture Mac has done for portable music (altho I personally despise ipods - horrid little isolationist things) | |||||

| I think it was November 7,... I think it was November 7, 1980 that the modern era cool died (the day Steve passed away) And while no one can ever take his place, one can certainly aspire to it. You my friend are heading in the right direction. His performance in LeMans was taut, understated and absolutely note perfect. To say nothing of the fact that virtually any Porsche will impart a bit of coolness. My wife looks at me like I'm from another planet when I prattle on about the Dr's exquisite engineering, must be a guy thing. | |||||

My mom died and left my twin brother a large lalique collection that would rival any small museum so I know what good stuff cost, but this little wooden elephant caught me so off guard that it would be priced like it was, I want to say it was a slap in the face but it did not. I did not take it that personal as objects of desire are just that objects , but I think that the family should have thought about th ...

| mary ann I am sure you are asking about Florance Knoll and Eero Saaraine cause your question would knot make sense any other way I love all the designs that Florance knoll did with the stainless steel legs very much like her mentor Mies in the International style . Saarine the architect was great died to young. but his chair designs are timeless and will live on for ever, both students of the Cranbrook school and very close family members, It would be hard to say who is better just like Eames ... | |||||

Now i am the perfect size for the chair 5' 8" and I just find it to ridget, no tilt and no give, Once again I have no idea what Charles was thinking cause he was a tall man. I have seen some really big 6ft and over guys barely make it out of the chair, and I hate like hell when any one sits in my chair and pulls up on the arms trying to get out of the chair.
