| According to what I've read the design was only preliminary when Wright died. The architect had to make a number of decisions -- but the basic design is Wright's. There have been almost universal criticisms of the unfortunate and even incomprehensible stone pattern and placement, and the rather timid embossing of the broad copper roof-edge fascia. These two details stand out as being most un-Wrightian; the Old Man (as I call him) would certainly not approved either of those decisions. The client may have made the call on those matters -- it does happen, u ... | |||||

| Hi Barrympls... Having designed melamine products I really learned to appreciate the Russel Wright designs and I find them great exemples on how well he mastered fluid organic forms long before we even thought a computer could be helpful in design. Although I never met him, (he died the year visited New York for the first time (1976) I always liked his entrepreneurial spirit. The way he and his wife Mary re-opened the ceramic production of Steubenville Ohio, becoming the first designer (my guess) that made a million $ on royalties for one line, the so called ... | |||||

| Nothing could be... worth as much as my BennyBoy...except for my nephews Oliver and Own and my neice Oaklyn. Benson was a Christmas present last year after my beloved Marmalade died after 18 years of being the best kitty-boy. Benson's a good boy too as long as he remembers to stay of the dining table. And I'm planning on taking the painting out to a friend who owns an antique shop to get her opinion on whether to get it re-framed or leave it as is. Maybe she'll have some idea as to it's worth. I'm just curious seeing as I'm not planning on selling it. I ... | |||||

| If the cabinets had glass doors, it might look a lot like a store interior ! I don't know -- but it's just so nifty in the plan. There are two other houses with the same detail. This is Walter Burley Griffin, who (with his wife Marion Mahony) came out of Wright's studio to practice on their own, after Wright's departure from Chicago in 1910. They moved to Australia after he won a major competition, and to India in the mid 'thirties, where he died after falling from a scaffold. | |||||
