| new life for eames chairs Hallo, i've been visiting desingaddict for quite some time. Never took part in Forum, but now it is a time. I recently bought (cheap) two eames upholstery chairs. They were cheap so i didnt bother about the condition of the upholstery, thinking that - worse case scenario I scrab it out. Unfortunately (since i both them online) I didnt realize that they do have mounts (so no screw holes) but also one big "ventilation" hole. I would like to ask for a feedback what could I do to this chairs to bring them back to life. Is there a sense ... | |||||

| ... it lasted this long and came from so far away. I didnt mention price cause i thought that was against the rules of the forum. Their are à few people that do upolstoy around here for the egg. Its just à investment that i cant keep .other wise my house would be covered in caution tape, trying to keep the two twin boys, the dog away from, ill have to sell it to afford the Botox shots from the stress. Duct tape is cheap it would be à very arty statement. Lol | |||||

| I actually heard... I actually heard in an interview there was a high demand for his furniture designs but he decided to stop designing it because he didnt want to be known as a furniture designer. He wanted to focus solely on his architecture. | |||||
| scam! | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Grendel_The_Cat | General discussion | |
| scam! I work for a finanical instituation, and yes, it does sound scammy. Be very wary of accepting funds, it happens almost daily that we have someone deposit fraudelent cashiers cheques or money orders. Generally the scam is that they accidently send too much and ask for the diffrence to be sent back to them, you deposit, and send the differnce back. The cheque takes days to clear and when it comes back as fake youre out of luck! Edit- we must have posted at the same time! Glad you didnt get taken! (and hello from Bellingham Wa!) ...and since your close ... | |||||

| Thanks Thank you for that. You are spot on. It looks to be the low back sculptured model which as you say are back in production. Not sure if this one is made in teak or Australian black walnut! Coincidentally only last week bought a Parker recliner although it was a completely different style. Didnt give them a thought. There are quite a few Parkers knocking around here in NZ. Thanks again for your help, just got to work out how much to offer the dealer.... | |||||

| ... room furniture i had dragged along with me from living with my roommates. I have been into the design of mid century and danish furniture since collage but never felt i should invest in furniture until i didnt have to worry about a roommate spilling jack and coke on my teak table. now i worry about my kids, how things change. Always looking at flea markets and thrift stores, but tend to come across most of my "finds" on Craigslist. I play a few instruments pretty well. I have been known to go to great lengths to get a piece I want. worked as a professional ... | |||||

| ... so obvious" as my big question would be "What does the other side of the lamp look like?" I have to imagine that it looks worse than the side that is imaged as it is only common sense to assume that one would show the best side if only a single pic is used in the add. Maybe it looks like crap and that is why the buyer is pissed. Really didnt think of that before responding. gogovanbelgik, I asssume you have more pics of the lamp. Can you show them to us? - "lacquer loss" to me is not equivalent to "scratches" | |||||

| ... who will listen. Every conversation gets around to how you know more than the book-lernin' crowd. And why THEY are not as perceptive as you. We all have our insecurities. Yours revolve around not having a formal education. Why must we ALL be constantly told we are examples of the HORRORS of book-learning and college? Your posts are a never-ending rationalization for not having gone to school. You are a very intelligent person in many ways. But sheesh dude, get over it. School is possibly overrated in some ways, but its not fucking evil! You like to say th ... | |||||

| NO I teach art to adults in universities and art schools. Never taught below the college level. I wouldnt have lasted for 35 years if I didnt have something to offer. I am 90% supportive, but part of the deal is to "stir the stew" or its no longer "art" If it doesnt stir the stew, its "craft. Art and craft are two different things. | |||||

| Yes, those two options both... Yes, those two options both occurred to me and it might be. However, I have a birch dresser and a maple bedroom set, and I didnt think it was a perfect match to either. If its one of those, I'm leaning toward maple. So, is this just a Run-of-the- mill chair? I had originally planned to recover it, but once I got it home and realized how nice it was, I wasnt sure. didnt want to damage something special! If its generic, I will go ahead, though. I just love the shape of it! (The fabric color-- not so much.) | |||||
