| 60s lamp | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | user_88 | Identification | |
| Hi, we were wondering if you know what kind of lamp this is? We already did a lot of research but still didn’t find an answer. All we know is that it is from the 60s. Do you guys know anything about the brand/designer? Thank you in advance! Attachment: 150843056_2834321413494105_1301549688137642179_n.jpg | |||||

| @lexi Doh indeed. I read through that twice and didn't make that connection. Thanks for reaching out to your people, I will mark this one as solved. | |||||

| @tktoo2. Too funny. To be honest I didn't look too hard; I had reached saturation point with regard to solving ID requests . I thought it might be considerate to give someone else the challenge. 😊 BTW, how are you keeping? No Paddy's Day Parade or celebrations again this year.( therefore no excuse to get bladdered). Just another day but at least the date registered, if not the actual day of the week!! I find myself looking at " best before dates" on food in the fridge and having to check the calendar to see which day/date I am currently in... Dayl ... | |||||

| RE: Help Identify Secretary Desk | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Herringbone | Identification | |
| Okay, it didn't take that long. So Kai Kristiansen designed a series of furniture for Tjorring in the 50s/60s, including the chatol @lexi posted. The design later underwent some changes, as can be seen with the chest of drawers on the first picutre. This was redesigned by Kai Kristiansen and produced in the 70s. But Kai Kristiansen then chose Aksel Kjersgaard as a partner for his case pieces and he also seems to have given the production rights for this line to Kjersgaard, as Kjersgaard produced pretty much the same chest, just with a different handle (pic 2 ... | |||||

| ... from the names that are then mentioned. That can indeed be the case with some names. However, there are also a great many designer and manufacturer names that are largely unknown even to experts because the ones named may have only worked for one company, because the company may have been short-lived, because the pieces did not stand out from the rest of the market, and because the designers therefore did not attract much interest. In addition, for most people - even Danes - many Danish names sound nondescript. It would be easy to come up with a fake design ... | |||||

| Absolutely right. The magazine is not about vintage furniture etc. To be honest, I didn't go very deep in the content. A friend bought for me that magazine axidantly somewhere on the way. I scrolled there a few times, reading only the headlines and noticed some good articles, cannot say more about it. 🙂 Yes, I am from Hannover, Germany. Where are you located? | |||||

| @lexi Thanks for the list, that will be handy for future searches. I figured this would be a fairly easy one with such an unusual leaf storage design. I guess they didn't sell too many. | |||||

| The base of this china cabinet, listed as Brouer Mobelfabrik by Bunch Auctions, looks pretty similar. The dimensions listed were 70.5 inches wide by 20 deep, which would be about 179cm by 51cm . The auction house did not show a mark or tag, and I didn't see another one like it, so just a lead to pursue. Attachment: Brouer.jpg | |||||

| @tktoo2. Currently drinking a nice glass of red wine. I see you like your scotch. I didn't realise there was one called Slane. Lovely place by the Boyne river. Have relatives who live there. | |||||
| RE: Help to ID what Seems to be Mis-attributed Ascona Chair on Google | 1 Relevance | 5 years ago | mark737 | Identification | |
| I think it's more likely that your chair is from a different Landes collection and Cooper Hewitt mislabeled their chair and ottoman. But who knows, there is very little info online about Landes, so it's possible all of 1stDibs and other seller descriptions are incorrect. I assume you saw that the UCLA Young Research Library has a collection of Landes portfolios containing black and white and color images documenting furniture designs, including those by Heinz Meier and the Ascona collection. It looks like you can request images from the collection, but I ... | |||||
| RE: Good Idea/Bad Idea: Restore an Early Herman Miller Eames CTM? | 1 Relevance | 5 years ago | He-Man | Repair | |
| Thanks so much for the guidance. I'm in Los Angeles so I was going to consider contacting Hume Modern to see if they'd take this on. They seem very well regarded when it comes to repairing and refinishing Eames lounges in particular. Once they reply to my inquiry, I'll discuss that as an option with them. I do like the idea of a gentle cleaning, minimal repair and waxing instead of full resto to the top. Accepting the wabi-sabi of it as a feature is a great idea. I didn't consider that, so again, thanks for the help. | |||||

| Alright, I looked at the table top this morning and as I kind of expected, the heat treatment didn't take well and spots are reforming. I think I'm going to take a cabinet scraper to it and just remove the finish as it's too far gone. I'm keeping it for now and as it is, it's value isn't substantial enough to be concerned about 'authenticity.' Furniture is meant o be used and loved and I'm going to fix it and use and love it. I'm going to get some ash veneer to fill in the chip. Some hide glue to hold the very few spots of lift down. And then give it a new c ... | |||||
| Replacing webbing with dowels on lounge chair | 1 Relevance | 5 years ago | rescuev | Repair | |
| ... as shown in the attached photos. Whoever fixed this chair previously had stapled cheaper webbing to the frame, but we were trying to avoid that since it sounds like that’s not the original way to secure these. We saw notes about planing one side of the dowels to ensure a tight fit against the chair frame, as well. The struggle we’re having is how to tighten the straps once they are looped through and around the dowels. If one side of the dowel were planed, the straps wouldn’t be able to tighten at all, and round as they are currently, we still can’t tighten ... | |||||
