| Hi all, Does anyone have any info on the chair in the photo? I found it, and its five siblings, in an old antiques shop in central Lisbon, so I would assume it is from the region. didn't purchase them at the time, which annoys me today. Any suggestions on how I can continue my search? Best, Leo Attachment: Visa-senaste-bilder.png | |||||

| Thank you. The photos really help. My shocks seem to be about 1/16" thicker than yours but that is probably because I didn't clamp them. The metal bracket seems to be exactly as wide as yours with shock centers perhaps 1/6-1/4" too far apart. Would it make sense to drill the holes in the metal bracket to elongate them? | |||||

| I doubt you will learn anything from the current producers but it is worth a try. As cdsilva said this has all the hallmarks of actually being Povl dinesen cabinetmaker construction. I suppose it is possible it is the prototype from the Guild but I doubt it. I believe PD produced it for a time. And it certainly makes sense that it showed up in Texas bought in Germany. To make sense this requires some background: before the War the distinguishing feature of a cabinetmaker was that he sold his furniture to retail customers, directly. He might have had a lit ... | |||||

| It's extremely interesting that Jacob Kjær's widow continued to run the shop for 5 years, that sheds a completely new light on the history of design. I just hope Kjær didn't die as a result of not using dowels. Shakespeare once - it was during a horrible writer's block - built a fantastic chair and gave it to the Danish king as present, but after 5 weeks the chair collapsed and the king sent Shakespeare a short-message saying: You idiot should have used dowels! Then Shakespeare sent Claudius out, and we know the result. | |||||

| help needed: repair water damage on Florence Knoll Walnut Credenza | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | CMCraig | Repair | |
| ... Walnut, build date of 1981, if that helps to understand original finish (which looks to be oil as the grain is raised where the water damage occurred). I've owned these for about 20 years and have never done anything other than apply paste wax every few years to them. To get rid of any remaining water in the wood, I spent about an hour gently ironing a cloth on it, which helped but didn't solve the problem. So, a strong hot water solution of murphy's scrubbed a number of times got me closer, but here i am. I clearly took away 40 years of accumulated dirt ... | |||||

| ( @lexi I just looked back at the beginning of this thread and saw that you had already made the observation about the block of wood connecting the rear leg and backrest way before I did. Sorry I didn’t mean to steal your point. Oh and thanks for finding that other Koppel chair you posted. I was not aware of that one). | |||||
