| a few years ago there was a disaster here in belgium, in a little town called ghislenghien (where i used to live for 17 years). On a new industry zone, while digging a gaspipeline was hit and exploded, flame was more then 200 meters high. People in surrounding buildings heard the explosion, didn't knew what was happening and ran for the exit emergency doors, outside they were burned. a friend of mine couldn't get out of the building where she was working, because of the explosion the building shaked and the doors were jammed and couldn't get open, this proba ... | |||||

| It was a chair for your family room... It was classic Danish Modern--thin wooden arms. Very simple form. The seat back narrowed slightly toward the top. I didn't think to ask about a mark. Dumb me. Frankly, the most notable thing was a ghastly green, yellow and white scotch plaid fabric, which the person said was original. It was not very pretty, but it was exceedingly comfortable, far more so than it appeared it would be. Sorry I can't think of any more distinguishing characteristics. | |||||

| There has always been a cognoscenti, and one hopes that there will be one in the future; if not, what are WE doing here ? But what fun would we have if we didn't think that our tastes are those that will be of use, sooner or later, to the larger audience (i.e., the "consuming public") ? No ? Well, whatever. As for these odd plastic stacking "knock-offs": only one of them seems to be a possibly accurate representation of the original; the Mies and Corbu forms are so distorted by a) the need to stack and b) the material (resin) that they are insults to t ... | |||||

| LRF - I'm probably wasting... LRF - I'm probably wasting my breath but here goes - I know you didn't call me a nazi - what you said is this : "I guess you would have been the one to say if the Nazi was nice to me they must be o.k.". There no ambivalence - you are saying that I could have sympathy with Nazism, and, for the reasons previously stated I find this very offensive. I let it go the first time I read because I guessed that it was something said in the heat of the moment which, given thought, you would regret. I see now that you are wholly unrepentant ... | |||||

| SDR, exactly, "aesthetics" is... SDR, exactly, "aesthetics" is the one of key factors. Ok, let me explain: I didn't say that the Golden Ratio, etc., are directly related to anthropometrics, or that they are necessarily in harmony with it. I said instead that if you are researching about anthropometrics those are useful topics to agree or disagree with. There are relations in this way. At uni they don't tell you to make anthropometric products in accordance to the Golden Ratio or Modulor. What they teach is that the when you are dealing with the aesthetics of ... | |||||

| . I fully intended to hold off "buying into" the computer until it was operated by one button. Glad I didn't wait; they'r only getting more complex all the time ! To post photos online, you will need to have a "web host" -- a service you choose that you can upload your photos to. From there, it's simple to post them on a site like this one. I like my Yahoo Small Business Web Hosting. It adds $10 to my monthly bill but I get a big kick out of it. I believe there are cheaper alternatives, and free ones as well. . . | |||||

| sdr sdr; the picture that ishow was in fact not really "explaining". the dark outlines were just to accentued the photo, i didn't mean to ad some ornament or black lines to the vase. i did draw 2 ideas in one picture; the ferrari opening and hexagon supplementary base, you have to consider them separatly. but this said it was just an idea and didn't had to be a good one ;-). i fully agree with the rest; basaltcolored vases, hexagon (not circles), 2 heights; but why has a lower height have to contain lesser hexagons?; it feels like the it should be reversed; ... | |||||

| yep since i never work as a subcontractor but always as an 'inhouse'designer, i designed a lot of stuff, some nice (pity i cannot 'put my name on it') but also a lot of dull, ugly and not worth speaking of designs (gladly i didn't had to put my name on it!). the rights belongs to the company you work for, is also stippulated in your contract but one time it stroke me when my boss didn't like my design personnally but some months later it was exhibited in a designexhibition and the name tag said 'design by "my (ex)bosses name'... | |||||

Maybe not great modern but certainly good and from years of personal experiece a damn comfy chair for a large man (6'4" 195). I used to sit in an 18th century cogswell chair my mother gave me just because it was deep enough my knees didn't stick out in space. | |||||

| ... technological dimensions. And even if they don't there seems these days to be a human predilection that afflicts designers as well as the rest of us to technologize, i.e., complexify and routinize activities with structures and orders almost without knowing it. Take the hexagonal flower vase for one immediate example. We all got very jazzed, me included, about a hexagonal grate on the top of the vase both for its aesthetics and for the spatial channelling of flower arrangement we believe the vase facilitates for persons putting flowers in vases. But do they ... | |||||

| Buy from Paradigm Gallery | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | Turbo11 | General discussion | |
| Buy from Paradigm Gallery I bought my Barcelona chairs from Paradigm Gallery (www.pgmod.com) and they were great. I chose Paradigm Gallery because Sleek Spaces, who sells Alphaville didn't have the color I wanted. My sister has the Alphaville Barcelona and to be honest, Paradigm Gallery's Barcelona chair is so much more quality looking in my opinion. http://info@pgmod.com | |||||
