| I really love the way the... I really love the way the Fog & Morup Semi lamp looks, but I was afraid the repeating the basic shape of the tulip would be overkill. I was also concerned that the direction of the light (straight down) would be unflattering to guests seated at the table. The PH5 is a great lamp and it allows light to escape above the fixture so it have the same effect that a Semi lamp would. But my wife didn't like it. :/ Ellie, congrats on the pendant...it feels great to finally get something above that table, doesn't it? Now to get something o ... | |||||

| Love 'em where we have them Thanks for the link to the dimmable CFLs Olive. We have been putting CFLs in all of our vintage modern lamps. They really look great in our old Nelson "Lantern" lamps with the plastic shades. Those have yellowed with age and when lit by the daylight CFLs, both the lamps and the bulbs look their best. We have quite a bit of built-in lighting in our 1964 modern home with rheostats to dim the lights. I didn't know you could get dimmable CFLs so we just left the incandescents in there and rarely, if ever, use them. We've grown to rea ... | |||||

| ... wait, DA forum have more than 6 years and DAblog a bit more than a month! When DAforum born, blogs didn,t exist, so to many of us used the forum as the only tool available. Indeed many threads are excellent blog-posts, that need to be translated into blog shape. On the other hand, If there is no comments no necessary means that ,s something wrong. It,s a news, I read it keep informed and that,s all. Blogs are more like a magazine, are more like the old News section, ONE gives a news, and the readers could make a comment or not. The cushions can come off by releasing the snaps on the cushions and pulling up on the back cushions and forward on the seat cushions. Rubber (not plastic) grommets used to support back braces until mid 1960s. " It goes on to say that Rosewood veneer was discontinued in March 1990 due to it being an endangered wood. | That's a coyote dressed like a chicken. | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | vintage damage | General discussion | |
| That's a coyote dressed like a chicken. Was a reference to the common practice, by many Native American cultures and new age groups, to use the coyote as one who makes mischief to bring enlightenment. For those who didn't recognize as much, why would a coyote dress like a chicken? to sneak in to the coop and make feathers fly. It's also a reference to the clich'e "fox in the hen house." Azure Chicken referenced coyote as an insult. I dropped out,for a while, out of frustration, when LRF completely by-passed the rest of my "colorful Jew" reference. I do admir ... | |||||

| coconut... When I first... coconut... When I first saw it some years ago, I didn't like the coconut chair at all. I thought it was too 'far-out' (and I think the price tag also had something to do with it...). I mean, it is a 'fun' chair, but I don't want to pay a small fortune for a 'funny' chair. Then I changed my mind and now I think it is one of the coolest lounge chairs around. It is one of the few of the really 'far-out' fifties designs that have survived to become a classic. I just wish it didn't come with the hefty price tag, and I agree it is so mu ... | |||||

| Oh Heavens!!! ROTFLMAO!!! KDC...gimme a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Mary Kay cosmetics party????? You have GOT to be kidding! Raise your hand all women here who have actually been to one of those warped estrogen-fests! Anyone? Anyone?? Nope didn't think so.... As for my fellow design addicts of the male persuasion...would any of you wear plaid flannel??? Would you?? didn't think so. Carrying a manpurse seems a far better choice doesn't it? KDC, I think just possibly you have misjudged the audience, but thanks for the big laugh...I had to get the tissues! | |||||

| Thanks Nick. It took a lot of... Thanks Nick. It took a lot of looking...we really liked the looks of some of the other lamps posted, but we didn't want more white in a space that already has too much white. I also like the look of the Fog & Morup Semi lights, but we were concerned that there was too much conical action going on. Dennis, that's a nice one too...I don't think you can go wrong with a round lamp. Consider the size you want hanging over that table. fm | |||||

| Luzifer Nut We puzzled over this problem for awhile. We opted for Eames DCM chairs because we didn't want to overpower the already white room with more white. We also wanted a lamp some other color than white for the same reason. We finally decided on the Luzifer Nut pendant. It casts a nice warm light in the room and I love the look of the glowing veneer. Here's a pic...this room, btw, is still under development, hence the bare walls. If anyone has any ideas for the wall, btw, I'm all ears. That's for another thread though. | |||||

| ... menorah, was pure sarcasm (too much god talk). I was hoping to point out your folly in rejecting those of us who can't, or even choose not to, buy our design ready to use. "hints from Hellouise." I pre-signed as Hellouise to illustrate that I'm one of the recent how-to posters. Out of respect for the forum, and boredom, I won't touch the anti wasp comment. Seriously , I may be overly frank but I didn't intend a personal attack. Btw we are very visual here. Is the chewing of asses stuff necessary . | |||||

| I gotta side with LRF on this one because nothing exisists in a vacum. Everything is inter-connected. The Rape of Europa sounds like a thoughtful discourse on what might of been and more importantly what actually happened. I will look forward to it at my local art-house cinema and barring that I will place it in my NetFlix queue. From the first flint tools formed by early man to modern flatware they are all connected, as is everything else that man might lay his hand and or mind to. | ... that use the ceap swirly CFl's in. I didn't need a dimmer there and I can't see them and they add a nice touch of bright white light to the space. I use the IKEA CFL's in accent lamps and as reading lamps in a anglepoise lamp that is similar to a Tolomeo. Works just nifty. There is the delay to full intensity but for the most part these lamps are on for long periods when they are on so that's really a non-issue. Andthe light wquality on these is really plesant. I use incandescent GE-Reveal (the blue coated ones) in my dressing area. The trade off for higher ... | |||||
