| I had thought Conant Ball... I had thought Conant Ball was an option. But I thought their stuff was branded with the Conant ball Logo. I didn't realize they did stuff with the square leg and metal footing details. But that just goes to show, designers don't alway follow their usual form! BTW, do you have any more info regarding these tables? Who designed them? They don't look like Russel Wright. Are you sure they are Conant Ball, as I can't seem to locate anything from them that would depict this style of design. Thanks for the help! | |||||

| I went Friday night and was... I went Friday night and was disappointed as well. (I was glad that I went though, as I got to sit in a few chairs I've been wanting to try out for a while now.) It was my first year being there, so I can't compare it to previous years. Someone I know who had attended in the past (but not this year) surmised that the paltry turnout may have been due to the struggling economy...that room didn't seem like it could've held too many more booths though. | |||||

The guy I bought them from was allowed by Charles Eames to assemble two chairs from the parts that were sitting around (one for him and one for his wife). He said that he took the best parts that he could to assemble the two chairs. However, he said most of what was lying around had drilled holes or was poor rosewood grain, or that the plywood wasn't holding well. These parts ...

| I gotta have one of those chairs Thanks for the update--I really think this is the chair to have. I have thought that for along time but never had the big bucks to invest. I wonder if Braniff had them in all there airport lounges worldwide. That would mean there might be some lingering in most major world cities that Braniff serviced. Also any way to find out from Herman Miller the total production amount. Also didn't Girard retire in Santa Fe? | |||||

| Reply to Barry The chairs are in bad condition one has cig burns in the back and one has worn through on the arm, both are stained across the seat. All this I could live with but the foam has gone rock solid and fallen apart. The photos make them look a million times better than they actually are. Trust me if they didn't need doing I wouldn't be spending any more money on them! | |||||

| Batting Barrympls, I think you're right. They could be reupholstered with more batting. Why didn't I think of that? I own a later Thonet with more batting and it's very comfortable. This may be my first project to send to Retro Redo. (Link below) http://www.retroredo.com | |||||

| I agree I agree, yet again, with William 🙂 I start things low- but have been caught out... I've sold things for far less than their marke value I have had nearly 2000 transactions on there..so know what I'm doing- but it is difficult to predict eBay does have quiet weeks.. I don't know why, but it does I have listed with a reserve once or twice and it didn't work for me: An example; I listed a nice dining suite last year with a reserve..it reached £26..and therefore not the reserve price (£200) I relisted it the following week for £250 starting price- (the p ... | |||||

Basic real estate 101: real estate is a piggy bank with low yield, unless you leverage it way up (finance a high loan-to-value ratio), so that the rate of return on equity is spiked through the high leverage on the equity (i.e., a hundred million dollar building appreciating ...

It is still my contention that people who know design/designers aren't the people buying this and behind duped. At least they didn't say "You are bidding on a picture of 2 Slice Chairs" 🙂

| Hehehe... My brother works for one of the local Targets. He's on of the execs there. Target is a good place for buying toilet paper, papertowels, household cleaners, and the like, but not for furniture. They actually used to have better quality furniture, IMHO. When I was in college, my roommate and I had a couple furniture pieces from Target. It was what we could afford. They weren't beautiful or anything, but they got the job done and lasted...didn't fall apart or anything. I think Target's furniture has really gone downhill. Now it looks extremely cheaply-made and doesn't look like it would even last for one year let alone five. And their stuff is just fugly now. My brother may work there, but not even he owns any furniture from there. He's got better taste then that. | |||||
