| Hello, I'm new to this forum, | 2 Relevance | 11 years ago | Thrill of the hunt | General discussion | |
| Hello, I'm new to this forum, although I have read and followed comments in the past. Great information!! I was so excited to see the Adrian Pearsall catalogue link, after going online today to the site and seeing that it was no longer available. Anyway, I've been interested in MCM pieces and design for a while. Years ago when I was decorating my bachelorette pad, I grabbed a pair of lounge chairs from my parents basement that I thought had great lines, had them reupholstered and years later, find that they are from Florence Knoll's 1954 collection!! I plan on having them reupholstered in Knoll fabric in the future. Back to The Last Thing I Aquired, Saturday night I saw this posting on Craigslist and couldn't believe it!! Reached out to the seller. She was having a yard sale yesterday and I asked her to please let me know if she sold them otherwise I would come today to buy them. Luckily she didn't have much yard sale traffic on her street and it was Father's Day. Here is the posting and the pics she sent me. They are actually in better shape than they look in the pictures. I'm very excited!! $100 for all 3!! | |||||
| Hmm | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Hmm I couldn't figure out what that scrolly thing even did, so i looked it up. I thought that the problem was dangling cords and chunky transformer plug things. The scrolly thing doesn't address any of that, whether it's modern or not (I'm with the nots). In fact, the messy cord and the plug take away from the curlicue beauty of the thing, so what's the point? Also, hard to clean around on the floor. Not very functional. | |||||
| Milo Baughman lounger? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | H P | General discussion | |
| I recently added a new chair to my collection which the person I've aquired it from claims for it to be Baughmans. However, after looking around, I'm not so sure due to the fact of their cross bar on the bottom and the roundness of the frame as rather to his more square. Does anyone have any evidence or knowledge of who designed this piece? | |||||
| Unusual Westnofa Chair | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| I just aquired a Westnofa lounger that I can't seem to find any images of, nor any information from the web. it has a simple shape of the back and seat portions positioned on what could be described as an angular letter C for a base, with the open part of the C facing the front. What is unusual about it is, because of the shape, the front of the seat is suspended from the front of the letter C base with wide brown leather belts and brass buckles like you'd see holding up the jeans on a hippie in 1972. The rest of the construction and materials is similar to other Westnofa loungers- with a bent laminate base and similar fasteners and hardware. I know in the absence of an image it may be hard to visualize, but has anyone seen something like this? Please advise as to name/model and vintage if you have. Thanks. | |||||
| I just don't understand this ... | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | HPau | General discussion | |
| I just don't understand this ... I just don't understand this shallow ethical stance, these technologies might have applications for public transport which will be wonderful but if people really want to help and do the right thing we have to make real sacrifices, heres an amazing idea...why not just not have a boat? Do you need a boat, who the bloody hell needs a boat? Cars are bad enough, its time everyone woke up to the fact that its pretty hard to have the cake and the sweet thing too, all these 'green' cars, theres no such thing, its completely ridiculous. I've been looking at all this stuff online lately and so many people seem to think they're doing the right thing buying the dishwasher or whatever with a great energy rating, are they that freaking lazy they can't wash their own dishes? Its all just lip service. | |||||

| My sentiments exactly | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | tchp | General discussion | |
| My sentiments exactly So far, the Larsen chair is the best thing I have acquired -- traded for two hours of electrical wiring work I did for a friend of a friend in Sacramento, CA. I complimented the chair, which was in their Craftsman style home, and the wife said, "Please, take that ugly thing out of my house." So, I took that ugly thing right out of their house before anyone had a chance to change their mind about it. | |||||
| Mark, that is brilliant! I'd | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Mark, that is brilliant! I'd take it a step further and do an interesting pattern on the seat---something to complement the black backrest but which would also hide spaghetti sauce and mac & cheese. I would never do such a thing on a set that I planned to sell, but hey---Michael plans to own them for the long haul and as we've said above, the seats are easy to do (and redo later). Have fun with it! oh, one other thing---I highly recommend getting a Berry Staple Remover tool for removing the hundreds and hundreds of staples. I've tried a lot of other tools for this and the Berry thing is the best. | |||||
| AT&T - a fad | 1 Relevance | 22 years ago | Stephen | General discussion | |
| AT&T - a fad The AT&T is like a piece of fashion; it soon goes out of style. Ornamentation should be OF a thing not ON a thing. On the other hand great modernist works just keep on keeping on. Stephen | |||||
| Mobler Table Lacquer? | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | greatwhite | General discussion | |
| Hello. I aquired a round danish dining table made by N&R Mobler? The top is solid wood core with thick sawn teak veneer. Solid teak legs and thick solid teak banding around perimiter of top. Table was found with multiple coats of finish and wax. The table was completely stripped down to bare wood. No sanding was needed. Some small dents were steamed out. I was wondering what finish was generally used when table was first made? I plan to use the table for dining so, would like to stay away from an oil/varnish blend finish. Can anyone help? Has anyone heard of the brand N&R Mobler? How old would you guess the table is? Thanks for any help in advance. Mike | |||||

| Hi Spanky, Was thinking the same, had already send a mail to to producer. We'll see what they have to say (and if they want to 🙂 I read the same thing about it being made in modules, but stating it goes apart and back together easily is another thing of course. | |||||
