| JP I saw one flop out JP I saw one flop out the other night on ebay. Big one shaped like an egg. They wanted 345. Not sure if it's because ebay is a bargain hunting ground or it was a sign of the lamps worth, didn't see any others ? | |||||

| I think that Paulanna's comment might have been intended as humor... but I'm not sure. It certainly didn't strike me as particularly funny. No place on the planet should be considered expendable or of lower worth. We've got one world and it comes as a package deal. Screw up one bit and you affect the whole. | |||||

| You're right on sanding It has been sanded because the guy I bought it from said he sanded it lol. That is why I have no idea what the finish was. The underside still has its sticker though so he either took it off and put it back on or didn't do anything to the underside... | |||||

| I hate building decks. The... I hate building decks. The boss is impatient and snarky. It's insanely hot right now and my bdy is suffering. My interview with DWR went fairly well, but I didn't pour on the charm like usual. I was too tired from the Austin sun and my bones were too sad to move. I just didn't have the energy. In addition, they are very inflexible with time, so probably no for me. I can't give up my music. I'm just so tired of having to struggle. Freelancing is slow right now, but it was going fairly well for a bit. I just want to write music, t ... | |||||

| ... I'd bought a really great rosewood table and six Kai Christensen rosewood chairs at the same sale and was tapped out money-wise. I took some of the chairs home and came back for the rest and the vase had been sold. Some guy had it sitting next to him. That's when I knew that I really wanted it---when I couldn't have it. Wah. Another one was an elegant little loveseat by Dunbar. It was Wormley-esque. Also at auction. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it, but I wasn't sure where I'd put it and I knew I didn't NEED it, and I wasn't sure what it ... | |||||

It recalls the defiant hope and seemingly Quixotic optimism in the face of depression, war, holocaust, and other impossible odds that persons can hang on to...must hang on to...to do more than just survive. Speed Racer tells of the existential optimism required to carry on, what Satayana once called Scepticism and Animal Faith. Speed Racer reminds us that you cannot contribute to the design of a better world unless you face up to the fact that you are struggling against seemingly ...

| ... for even the most closeted American to see. By then you knew the Brady Bunch was a farce, whereas once you had wondered if Leave It to Beaver had actually existed some where in America. The gearheads of Speed Racer come partly from my youth, which makes them easy to relate to superficially, but they have an optimism and individualism and willingness to fight the big sponsors that predates my time, and Roger's time. It actually tracks back to the racing movies of the 30s and early 50s, two times when the country had been put through a ringer, come out the ot ... | |||||

| Aeron, eh? I guess I was being disingenuous when I said I value comfort over looks, because I don't think the Aeron would look very good at my trim, wall-hung rosewood desk. Frankly, I didn't even sit in one today, though I had several opportunities. I'll give one a try before making my final decision, though... | |||||

| Quality I forgot to add that I TOO asked about the quality and didn't get any response at all. I did ask him where the pieces are made and he said various factories in China. That he answered but not the question on quality, everyone seems to get the silence treatment form them when they raise the quality question. | |||||

| This is the only image. I... This is the only image. I found it online for $225 as a "retro" vintage chair. The seller sells very random styles, and of course I was hoping e just didn't know what he had. But, I agree, something doesn't seem right. The leg angles for sure, but like you said, it could be the photo. The feet could have been replaced years ago. That being said, I don't think it's legit. Anyone else? | |||||

| ... 70s a car was an existential machine to be used to deliver you from the nightmare the 60s had turned into and the ghastly tackiness of design that was overwhelming the early 70s. All the true gear head cars had been out of production for at least 3 years by that time. The last truly great and legendary gear head car was the original Z-28 Camaro from about 1969 (the rare 302 ci v-8) and maybe a Pontiac Tran Am from the same year. A Boss Mustang, Shelby Mustang, or a MOPAR Hemi rig could also count. But by the time the mid 70s Smokey and the Bandit Trans Ams ... | |||||

It works well down in my record room. Back a few years when I went into DWR the first time, I was enquiring about the Eames Sofa, and since they didn't have it on their website, that old crum-bum told me it could not be ordered. Go figure. Finally, as far as sales tax goes, I put out a lot of money for sales tax all year long, and buying from someplace like Hive or buying on eBay and saving ...

Having said that, I seem to have a preference or at least a visual bias for modern furniture that utilizes wood. If you are ordering from Modernica they can make the stool at a later date and the only increased cost to you would be the additional shipping. You might consider requesting fabric samples. The patina is VERY heavy. I'll probably just leave the chair alone though and pick up some used cushion off ebay. I plan to just keep the chair and share the story through the years...
