| Still absorbing I'm just enjoying the eye candy! Seriously, I've been surfing some of the names of designers that you have mentioned here that are new to me and that is leading to other links and other links, well, you know how it goes. WHC, you knew I would like that orange chair, didn't you? (Go, Tigers). Gustaf, who designed the tall rosewood one in your first picture? | |||||

| Thanks all, All 30 shells are going to a dealer in the UK. (No I didn't have to handle the shipping), two bases went to our very own whitespike and the remainder to a woman who is going to repurpose them into some kind of art project. I'm happy! I made a nice little profit for not too much work and I saved some mid-cent classics from heading to landfill. | |||||

| . It got a bit touchy there for a minute didn't it? I did like what Azure said though. When I pay $1.00 for a jacobsen teapot or as is happening now less than half of what its worth for a lathe I do feel like I'm taking advantage of other peoples lack of knowledge, I'd hate to be a dealer. | |||||

It's quite heavy. didn't test the seating arrangement, but your right, the legs do seem obstructing. Overall, It's a great modern table..solid but buoyant. All the other examples are quite nice as well. I'm very partial to Arts Crafts type dining tables. There's an irresistible focal quality to them, anchoring the home...lending themselves to the old saying "Home is where the heart it".

| ... sentence, there. . . in the gold Eams, you said: "Just another 'Concept over Execution' in the name of 'Art' The concept should never be more important that the execution..never ..ever" I loved when I read it, and agreed. Clever point. But later, not necessary agree that ALWAYS is the best to archive. Translations can be form: the low to the high the rich to the poor the poor to the rich thousand etc Considering the design as a translating process, the final product depends on the translating message and the translator. Some times this process is made "alon ... | |||||

| I am happy to report that I was able to make an even exchange between the prior MacBook model and the new one, and oh man, am I glad I did. First off I didn't need firewire (despite it's slightly higher transfer rates) as I do not edit video (anymore). All of my devices can be connected via BUS cable. It is sleeker, and while the actual difference in measurements relative to thickness are miniscule at best, visually it just looks slimmer. The colors on the screen are more brilliant. There is an "Instant On" element to the screen. The thirty percent efficien ... | |||||

| I have a few bookends that I... I have a few bookends that I have found in thrift stores. This one is kind of fun, as it uses a metal "spring" to hold the books/magazines and does not need a second piece: The other one was designed by Ben Seibel. I was a bit sad that I didn't find the second one to have a pair, but for a couple dollars it wasn't a bad deal I guess: | |||||

| I have H-bases! Hi Whitespike. Hey I've got 30 h-bases in my garage atthe moment. The fellow who bought all my shell chairs didn't wantthe bases. They are silver, but you could easily have them sprayed in an automotive shop. You want a few? I hate thinking I'm going to have to scrap them. Email me directly at oliveschairs@gmail.com | |||||

I don't know if you are in the market for a pair, (or even if you are in the US!), but if you are, the set is going for less than 100 bucks in a store in South Carolina.

| ... find this stamp on my chairs, purchased in 2002, but I may be looking in the wrong place. The dealer I purchased them from uses the Knoll logo in the online listing for other Bertoia chairs but not for the side chairs yet I asked and they say the side chairs are Knoll. I just sent a message to Knoll customer service asking them to be more specific about the location of the stamp. Anyone find a K stamp on their Bertoia side chairs? I wish I didn't lose the paperwork. | |||||

| ... I can have before it becomes too much but if it is too severe the holes will join on the inside of the hub and make assembly difficult. So I think I will go with the same angle as the 3d model, I also noticed earlier I didn't get as much of a taper on the legs as I should have, it was quite difficult on a metal lathe to do this, very akward to ge a tool rest right to the end of the leg. When I steel wool back the last coat and wax it will dull the finish nicely, the real thing is actually much more of a darker red brown, strange that it came out not so wel ... | |||||

Somehow the real thing has taken on more the look of a milking stool, I don't know how but will have another look at the cad file and get the tape measure out and see what happend, photos later.

| barrympls That's a decent quality fabric. I've seen it on ebay many times and have also seen it in person at the PA Fabric Outlet in LeMoyne, PA. You didn't say when you bought the fabric on ebay but I can tell you that Knoll and Maharam fabrics have been readily available on ebay for at least four or five years now (which is how long I've been buying them). Some sellers know what they have but many others get unlabeled mill ends. I have learned quite a bit about high end fabrics by checking ebay listings against manufacturers' websites. It takes time bu ... | |||||

Making the formers is a bitch, I hate doing it. I'd suggest getting a cad file done (trace the outline of the leg onto a big piece of paper and get someone who can use autocad to do the file, won't cost much or take long) and get the male + female parts cnc cut from a few pieces of 3/4' mdf or ply. For a one off I would just use very thin brown packing tape on the surfaces of the former, male and female, ...

| Excellent 'shopwork -- the shadow makes it, of course. Another spit-take. [showercap]: "Sure... I think it looks like a rusty metal bucket with a handle." Didn't our gustavo already do this one, a while back ? Maybe *he's* the notorious Gianni in disguise. . . Carry on. We've needed something like this, for a while now. . . | |||||
