| ... to get the foam off. I'm almost 100 % certain that there is a gelcoat under the upholstery - it would prevent the fiber from shaling off (and going through the fabric) It may be a bit dull and in need of buffing. The normal gelcoat is actually pretty dull when it comes off the assembly line - most of the shells we see have had a decade or more of butt-polishing to gloss them up. 2- some of the shell chairs were drilled with 3 small holes to let air out as someone sat on the chair - patching holes in fiberglass is a pain (but not impossible) The earliest ... | |||||

| Boy that's special. You won't see siding laid like that anytime soon. Are you emphasizing the unique crafted nature of the property ? I'm glad you didn't do away with the book-matched ply cabinet doors in the kitchen. I always liked those. Geez, where did I get the idea you were in the western part of the state. . .? | |||||

| I've used Plycon 2 or 3 times and didn't have any problems. I bought a 1928 floor model Columbia phonograph on eBay and I used Plycon to ship it from Denver to Minneapolis....no problems (this machine needed to be kept upwright). I bid on and won my sofa and Plycon delivered it from Cincinnati to Minneapolis...again, no problem. If what you described happened to me, I would've called up Plycon and asked for a discount off the cost; I think they might've given some money back for the bad scheduling, misdelivery to the wrong warehouse and to the less-than-idea ... | |||||

I think the key is to make sure you pack the crap out of stuff because I doubt they're very careful with the boxes. I've had the worst problems with FedEx. Won't ever use them again. Guy didn't show up for a week and then lied saying he'd been there every day and we weren't home. Then he kicked a giant pair of Venetian glass lamps down our front stairs right in front of us. Thank god they were packed well. I know that's not so helpful when stuff is being delivered to you, just ...

| refurbish Craig, I haven't had any experience of refurbishing an original but Anglepoise brought out reproductions of this around 15-20?? years ago and I bought 3. Recently the switching mechanism wore out and Anglepoise sent 3 replacement switches and didn't charge me anything. I think you would find them helpful if you ever need any replacement parts. | |||||

| thanks gustavo and patrick... thanks gustavo and patrick 🙂 I'm doing this research because one company working with moulded concrete asked for some design at our university for outdoor fire-place - the modular one, that can be built from components... I find it very interesting area, and althought I didn't specify it in this thread, It was very useful for me to check the variants you pointed at 🙂 especially the "floating fire" creates wonderful atmosphere. | |||||

I am sorry chewbaca that you don?t like Overman that is perfectly alright but why fill my thread up with all this junk I didn?t ask for anyone?s opinion of the furniture all I asked is if people had any information about it. Is this how this form works people list a question and then everyone slams it. None of the other threads look like this?

I told him that I was going to help him with the next item and he assured me that everything was fine. Now that i am typing it out I am not sure why I didn't get in his face on the spot about the way he was treating the item. Maybe because it was 6:00am and he just woke me up. And he assuring me everything would be fine ...

It's not pretty, but you'll never see it under the cushions, and now the entire bottom of the chair is *sturdy*. Also on the bottom part of the seat base I attached an extra piece of 1/2" plywood that is larger than the area the stand attaches to. This gives over 1" of material (plywood + fiberglass) that the stand attaches to and that the back bracket will attach ...

The hint of bureaucratic red tape is sad to hear -- all too familiar to people in your (damp) shoes, I suppose. A mini-Katrina victim ? What is the body of water that insulted your property ? I'm not sure we know just where you are. As could be expected, the news of flooding north of the border didn't make the front pages this far away.

| ... consistently. I've sat on other sofas of theirs that varied a lot within the same model in firmness. The Karlstad floor model looked pretty schlumpy. The back cushions were kinda saggy and the whole thing just looked a bit down and out. Not crisp at all. Have you considered their Arild sofa? It has metal legs and exposed frame edge along the bottom like the Jane sofa that you are looking at. It's a little on the firm side as far as the feel. It's also leather, which may not be on your list at all, I forget. Leather does stand up to kids quite well, t ... | |||||

| Fair enough... You didn't mention the fact that you'd seen chairs of the same swatch at White. Shocking really. Their demo photos look like dump. Doughy upholstery and all. Obviously, I'm quite surprised at the quality as well. Thinking I may keep it either way. My wife is reveling at the prospect of actually owning a cushy side chair. Hah. As Nick mentioned, this is a fantastic design to stuff in a corner in the bedroom. And barry, don't insult my stuff anymore. (-; | |||||
