| ... on using a Rosewood veneer. I am going to try my hardest to match the original condition. HM really seems to have done a hack job on the previous repair. Routered where the shockmounts attach and didn't even bother trying to color match the replacement panels which I believe are oak or ash. Plus it seems as though they sealed the new panels with poly instead of an oil finish. I'm going to be taking pictures to document the whole restoration from start to finish. I'll post a link after I've made some progress. | |||||

| i'm going to play devil's advocate.. if you check out the high resolution images for this wright listing, not sure if you can definitively say the earlier dkr's *didn't* have squared off feet mounts.. they don't look exactly square, but they don't look to be rounded either.. however, the condition of the eBay chairs look to be unmatched... http://wright20.com/auctions/view_search/GD2E/GD2G/122/LA/dkr/G20I | |||||

| ... as my installer gave me a big just of it but it's not the original container and is just labeled 'concrete stain, mix 1:10 with water'. Also, concrete is a surprisingly warm-looking surface. Even the grey is warm. It has a mottled appearance and look more like soapstone. I am surprised that you are being told that you'll pay $2-3K more than ceasarstone, we didn't. | |||||

| That's concrete sorry I didn't see y our earlier posting, zencat. I've been a tad busy of late. Rockland's photo is def concrete. Ours looks very similar. I find it a very friendly material to maintain, but it does havea patina to it that you have to like. Also, I chose to just darken the natural grey tone a bit but you can have any color you can imagine. And it can bea very earth friendly material as it's recyclable and can contained recycled content. For a reputable installer try the concrete network, link below. http://www.concretenetwork.com/?p=Website ... | |||||

| yes poach Welcome! It always nice to have a new knowledgeable voice contribute to these open forums. If you read some of the past threads of various topics, you will see that sometimes the discussions stay pretty peaceful and civil and sometimes they can get a bit testy and riled up. It just seems to be nature of this forum. I appreciate the insight you lend and agree with much you have said. Such as your observations on Modernica. In my opinion, Modernica gets kind of a undeserving bad rep a lot of times on here. They have gone a bit off their mark i ... | |||||

| ... Modernica made both HM tagged, and Modernica tagged pieces simultaneously. That's sort of the crux of my legit v. non-legit argument. The label was pretty much the only difference at that point. I'm not sure how they managed that politically, but I do know that when I talked to Eames Demetrios in 2000, he was not at all happy with the HM / Modernica relationship. Perhaps the simultaneous production was the cause of it. I didn't press him on it, and it was right around that time that the relationship was severed. | You people are awesome! Thank you for all of your input. SDR, I didn't think it would be difficult to build, I just couldn't "see it" in my head and needed a reference. The period plans are awesome. I plan on picking up the Oldham book from the library, and want to pursue some Cherner plywood chairs for the kiddos. This is too much fun. I wish I had more time to tinker. Many, many thanks. You have given me so many ideas, I have a better idea of where to search for future projects. | |||||

| Lowering temperature with anecdotes and beer Anecdotes I jumped from the Pepsi/ads thread. I was afraid to be banned there 🙂 I begin with an ad to lower the temparature... Anecdotes Anecdotas ps: The more times someone watchs an ad, the more can learn. When watched at TV, didn't realize: 1) the unknown guy at restroom was later the ex of his own present girl-friend. 2) I still try to understand what other uses a watermelon could have.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vmIazIL2Uw&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epablo... | |||||

| When we lived in Denmark I... When we lived in Denmark I saw knockoffs of the Piet Hein elliptical table everywhere, including in their Home Depot knockoff chain stores. We didn't know a ton of people there but it seemed like of the ones we did know, quite a few had one in their kitchens (surrounded by Jacobsen chairs or Jacobsen-knockoff chairs, which also proliferated). So it doesn't surprise me at all to see a Danish-made coffee table based on that design. | |||||

| I wouldn't read too much into Rockybird's comments hyou did notice he said 'white countertops' didn't you. Concrete is porous. White is a really bad choice. I have deep grey, a slightly darkened version of concrete's natural tone. I've had them for 7 years now and they look wonderful. They are also easily resurfaced if you get a bad stain. I love them. We paid no more for them than we would have if we had done granite. Rockybird, I suggest you have the countertops cleaned and stained a darker color. You made an unfortunate choice and your concrete contractor ... | |||||

| ... upon a time, the elements of a molecule altered composition, as they apparently have done for as long as there have been atoms and molecules, and as they continue to do. One of those alterations lead to a molecule that could break apart and recombine. It might have happened to just one molecule, or there may have been considerable synchronicity operating among a great many similar molecules, because the environment of that moment probably reequilibrated, thus creating a rather large medium full of potential molecules to make this change. Either way, this re ... | |||||
