| 1. When and how did you... 1. When and how did you first hear about or were made aware of this product? This product was introduced to me as a classic. I was around 19 years old. An older friend of mine opened a furniture store mixed with his own vintage finding and new Herman Miller, Knoll, Cassina, Modernica, Offi, BluDot etc. 2. What were your first impressions of the product? I thought it was fun. While I appreciated my parents' knack for antiques, this seemed more in line with my young, unquenchable interest in creativity. A chair that I actually wanted ... | |||||

| . Thanks for the update on thread, very busy lately and not much spare time. Didn't end up using the block floor because of a drainage problem, so its bearers, joists and plywood with a masonite skin, its looking good. Anyone here have a masonite floor? What do you think of it? Putting up insulation in workshop, 40 + degrees here lately and sweating and itching like mad trying to get it finished...should have some new work to share in a couple of weeks. Most excited by a design for a curved room divider, we'll see. | |||||

| Barry-- I WAS referring to the Kiki de Montparnasse bedding that dcwilson linked to, immediately before-- pillow cases with embroidered "FUCK" and "SLEEP" on either side. Sorry if that was unclear. (Didn't you find it a wee bit strange that I'd keep using the word "fuck", were I weighing the virtues of your Ralph Lauren sheet set?) | |||||

| ... is said to be practically indistinguishable from Knoll, even side-by-side (which is why Knoll and Alphaville are currently in court). It used to be that you could tell a replica because it didn't have the right number of straps (9 on the seat, 8 on the back) or the right number of tufted squares (5x4 on each cushion), or because the cushions didn't hang over the edge of the frame, or the straps didn't attach the right way or the frame-ends were ground wrong or the welds weren't smooth enough, or just by taking a tape-measure to the damn thing. I don't thin ... | |||||

| Lucifer, Let's remember he... Lucifer, Let's remember he didn't just say that Kinkade buyer's have bad taste - he said that they are probably republican, church going, and uninformed. Lucifer, people only tend to take issue with things aimed at them directly. I understand that. But don't let things like this pass over your head simply because you aren't in the line of fire. For one, I am sick of the general consensus that it is okay to bash Christians. It happens on this board from time to time, but I tend not to worry with it for the most part. So while, ye ... | |||||

| ... with nothing better to spend their money on than clothes. None of them wants to wear what some other woman's wearing, so a store like Resurrection is appealing. And if they hear that Rachel Zoe shops there, the store becomes practically irresistible. Plus, the movie business is in LA, and movie costume departments sometimes need high-end vintage clothing. And there are people who collect vintage clothing the way we collect vintage furniture. I wouldn't find it hard to believe that the LA store pulls in $50K+/week all by itself. The NYC stores probably do ... | |||||

| Thanks, I figured they were... Thanks, I figured they were generic but you never know. I started ripping the new fabric off and 6 chairs have their original fabric and 2 are just missing the seat upholstery. I have some fabric that is somewhat similar that I can use on the seats of the 2 chairs. Do you have any idea what the original table may have looked like? The guy at the thrift said they didn't come in with a table but you never know one may show up. | |||||

| Julia Child was our classic mid-century cooking guru no canned foods, no Cool-whip etc -- but plenty of butter and plenty of heavy cream. It didn't hurt to have a decent French bakery nearby either. (here's a photo of my old copy of Mastering the Art...) | |||||
| the blade is a gimmick | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Poach | General discussion | |
| the blade is a gimmick I used the Dyson blade a few weeks ago, and thought it was complete crap. It didn't dry my hands any faster than other high velocity hand dryers that have been around for about a decade. In fact, I had to make several passes to get my hands dry. The angle of entry doesn't account for varying heights of human beings. It's about twice the size of a normal dryer. And for God's sake, Jim... dump the yellow plastic once and for all. Memphis is dead. | |||||

Thanks for all your input, it's much obliged. | |||||
