| To Ball - I actually went and checked it out... ...and I didn't buy it. My gut tells me it wasn't real and I'm not enough of a fan of this set to buy a knock-off. First the table top (under the cover) was a strange laminate layer not solid teak, which seemed wrong. I couldn't resist and I looked under the table. No Frem Rojle or Denmark stamp anywhere and really ugly/shoddy underside construction. Lastly the leaf was missing and, though I am uncertain, I feel like the original has the leaf built into the underside of the table. Do you know? The whole thing ... | |||||

| ... in the furniture program there was killed when a large laminated turning blank flew apart on the lathe. The story, as I remember, was that the blank was glued up days earlier from highly-figured and possibly unstable pieces and left mounted to the faceplate over a long weekend and that excessive turning speed was a factor, as well. A freak accident with tragic results. I recall feeling grateful it didn't happen on a day I was in the shop. I'm sure you hold healthy respect for your machines and I hope you use robust, well-designed safety equipment consistent ... | |||||

| ... I? It was named after Bertha Krupp, the wife of the family-owned firm's patriarch.) Krupp didn't make crematoria either, but it did use 100,000 slave laborers to make weapons at Auschwitz and other death camps. Boss Alfried Krupp was sentenced to 12 years for war crimes but was freed in 1951--cynics say because the Korean War had just broken out and the U.S. needed Krupp's industrial might as a bulwark against the Reds. Its assets restored, Krupp again became a corporate giant and remains so today. | |||||

| Just so this makes sense my b... Just so this makes sense my boyfriend and I are both posting under the same name. So the photos are the booty from the most incredible estate sale of my life, ever. I don't expect another to even be in the same hemisphere. I don't want to divulge too many details to respect the former owner's privacy but it was one crazy scene. He didn't really bother to advertise the sale much I, thank heavens, just happened to notice a scraggly flier taped up on a pole downtown the day before. (which I took) it wasn't even listed as an esta ... | |||||

| Looks like the chickadees are coming home to roost... for Modernamnesia. A few buyers have now complained about their undisclosed meddling. And their recent cross strut rocker didn't exactly blow the doors off pricewise. http://www.ebay.com/itm/250873538015?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3... | |||||

| wow...136 views and no id!! it did have a BS sticker on it that was peeling off, and I didn't get a very good shot of it, but it was dated 1960. I was told that this didn't necessarily mean it was British...but might have been put on when it was imported to certify it met safety standards. Does anyone know anything about this, perhaps? Would imported tables get labelled this way, or does this indicate it is British in make? | |||||

Seems like everyone knows something about it now, and regardless it's "old" and antique roads show, ebay and mad men have made ignorance of it near impossible. And then it happened. I won't bore you with too many details but even a month later my partner and I will just sit back and recount this estate sale and moments that occurred because it still makes our heads spin when we think about it...and now when we look around our house which has been totall ...

On the conservation vs restoration front, I must apologize deeply for the misunderstanding. Conservation would have been a much more specific term for what I want to do. In my non-English native language "restoration" can refer either to bringing back to like-new condition, or just maintenance and protection, in particular for a piece that has been neglected. I am now better informed, even though the distinction is not always clear-cut between the ...

| Oh, you saw that? Yeah, it originally said that I'm catching up to Olive, as I just celebrated my 45th. But then I didn't want to hijack the thread, so I started to delete my post. But then I realized that if I deleted the post entirely, it might seem disrespectful toanyone who'd already seen it, as though I'd thought better of wishing Olive a happy birthday. So I finally just deleted everything but the expression of my best wishes, hoping that one innocuous sentence wouldn't be enough to derail the thread. | |||||

| Thanks everyone glad we could solve the mystery of this sideboard. Sadly it's turned out not be Heritage - I had an inkling as it didn't look like it was manufactured to Heritage quality either - but it's a lovely looking piece. | |||||
