| I believe the 4 ducks logo... | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Solange | General discussion | |
| I believe the 4 ducks logo... I believe the 4 ducks logo is the older / oldest marking for the flatware. I was lucky enough to find a 35+ piece set of the Fjord at a garage sale last year for $8. They didn't have the ducks logo but said instead Dansk designs Germany JHQ . I assume they must be newer than yours. The lovely older couple having the garage sale would have none of me shoving another $25 at them. I think my enthusiasm amused them...I then proceeded to weep openly, throw my arms around them both, and then on the way home I forgot who I was for 3 ... | |||||

| That is truly a great piece! ... That is truly a great piece! I had a credenza that didn't look anything like this but it did have a very similar base with the brass feet and the black painted cross bar and that turned out to be a Drexel Milo Baughman piece. | |||||

| I ended Up purchasing a product by miniwax that contains acetone, methanol and toluene. Was twice the price of the acetone container but didn't want to make a trip back to home depot if the acetone alone wasn't enough. I attached a pic of the back of the chair taken half way through the job after removing the finish from the right rear leg/backrest support. Overall, the product worked well. So now I have the chair with the old finish removed. Attached a pic of the side of the chair. The wood on the side looks a fair amount lighter than the wood that is o ... | |||||
| Any guesses? | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Bryseph | General discussion | |
| Any guesses? Anyone have any guesses? The signature is debossed into the piece, so I decided to take some molding clay and do a pressing... hoping that that may make things a little clearer. It didn't help much, but maybe one of you might see something I'm missing. | |||||

| Glassartist--Obviously Girard... Glassartist--Obviously Girard didn't invent the quatrefoil! But I never said he did. I just said his design was original, which you seemed to deny, but couldn't back up so now you're just backpedaling. I'm not going to clog up this thread with any more nonsense. | |||||

| edit the toys One thing I did with my three kids when they were little was to edit the toys. They had an awful lot of toys but didn't play with all of them all of the time, so we would pack away the ones that were out of favor. Then every month (or two or three or whatever) we would rotate some into and out of storage. For them, it was almost like getting new toys. Also, whatever you get to store the ones that they do have out, make it a main area storage solution, not something geared to kids. They don't care what it looks like as long as it's easy to u ... | |||||

| This is a little off topic... This is a little off topic but did the seller say it was all original? The rocker base looks like a newer addition....it has that horizontal support rod in the front, I thought the older rocker bases didn't have it until much later. Does anyone know when that extra support rod made it's first appearance? edit: Apologies...I just took a look at some images of old bases...I think I may be totally wrong about that extra horizontal bar thing... although I'm sure I've seen one or two without it...Clearly I'm also a noob... | |||||

| Oh, I don't think Girard desi... Oh, I don't think Girard designed these pieces, I just meant they were based off his design for Herman Miller. But I can't imagine they didn't have some kind of agreement with Girard or Herman Miller to use the design. | |||||

| I always thought these... I always thought these pieces were Umanoff designs, no? Girrard didn't do any work for Howard Miller, did he? I know he did the quatrefoil fabric....but I don't believe these pieces are connected. I like the mirror and happen to have the matching wall clock myself. | |||||

| picked this up over the weekend. I debated with myself for a while before making the purhcase as I really didn't and still don't know if I really like it. For the price they were asking I figured I couldnt go wrong. The white and black portions are some type of laminate. Any one have any idea on the manufacturer? | |||||
| You know... | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| You know... ...I've been thinking about those things all day and now i vaguely remember that we had one on our car window. I remember our friend Janne explaining that we should have one, but we didn't go into Copenhagen much so we didn't need it very often. It was one of those little bits of information that were piled on us in a heap when we first got there---lotta stuff to deal with. Ours was a cheap (but nice) one. Not a Stelton. | |||||

| Thanks, Spanky. Around here, parking-enforcement officers mark the tires of parked cars with colored chalk; if the chalked car is still parked when they come back after an hour, they cite it. That practice seems easier for everyone involved, and more reliable. I wonder why it didn't take hold in Europe. | |||||
