| And here I thought I'd never see a beaver sculpture I didn't want to break into a thousand tiny pieces. Then bury the pieces deep in the garbage can. This Middleton- fellow proved me wrong. | |||||

| Hey Can you show some photos of the labels? Quality looks nice, but I find the lay-out with the top a bit messy. Have never seen anything like this from sibast. Didn't you post this a year or so ago? | |||||

| ... shape because my client only had that and the "A" shape in stock, and I didn't like the color variation on the "A". My first choice however would be the "C", but like I said, I plan on eventually having all three. In the process of designing and publishing a book for work I've developed a nasty book addiction and have an Amazon wish-list a mile long. Eames: Beautiful Details makes for an amazing coffee table book and a design object in itself. I'm still looking for something that covers the furniture development and design processes, the people in the offic ... | |||||

| Thats interesting information, Judith! Didn't know that. I'm eyeballing a trolley from this series, for the moment... Same as Jim has, I pressume (it has a black top). | |||||

| ... dull and matte. I will restore the finish with epoxy so the shells will have there natural (satin) finish. I really do not understand why people use Penetrol to restore shells. The first armshells where sanded by Zenith because Eames didn't like the glossy finish. Of course they stopped doing that, because it was too much work. | |||||

| Finally got the back off one... Finally got the back off one of my chairs. didn't realize until today that they "knock down" once seats are unscrewed. That aside, will be beginning the re- caning soon. There seems to be a weave variation with special treatment around the area where the back attaches to the frame. (2nd picture). Will try and show more details when I start dissection. | |||||
| Looks like it might be | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Looks like it might be lacquer that someone added later. Unless these originally came with lacquer, but I'm guessing that they didn't. You can remove lacquer by simply soaking the surface with lacquer thinner. Test in an inconspicuous area first to make sure that's what it is (use nail polish remover if you have some). Lacquer will soften and dissolve pretty quickly but not quite as quickly as the lacquer thinner evaporates, so you have to keep dousing it. Use #0000 steel wool to speed the process but always with a wet surface to avoid scratches. Wipe c ... | |||||

| David if you report the copied listing chances are ebay might take the auction down... It's worth a try? Thank goodness my sister didn't like mid century modern, so I could inherit this chair that I love! As the years have passed, the cats have had their way with it. Karma perhaps. The foam is hard and disintegrating. I can't afford to recover it and it's been in the attic for years. Now sadly, I must sell it, but will have the memories! | |||||
| Fiber rush is paper, but | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Fiber rush is paper, but it's just one ply and I think it may also be lesser quality paper than Danish style paper cord. I had a spool of old fiber rush that I got at an auction and it didn't stand up to any kind of abrasion at all. Maybe fiber rush produced now is better quality, I don't know. Paper cord, on the other hand is plied---meaning that it consists of two or three strands of twisted paper that are then twisted together. Plied cord wears way better than unplied. (Don't confuse this with "laced". Some places offer laced and unlaced paper cord. ... | |||||
| No idea if these are sturdy, | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | bj | General discussion | |
| No idea if these are sturdy, but I would guess Fritz Hansen wouldn't produce something shaky (at least not then). I have seen one example, when I was at college, somebody had this in his paintersstudio, version without the armrest but can't recall if it was comfortable (didn't sat in it then). Thank I can snatch these arround 200 for the pair... | |||||

| I nearly bought a pair of... I nearly bought a pair of those some years ago at auction. I thought, and still think, they are beautiful. I too, though, would have had to buy them sight unseen, and wasn't sure that they'd be all that comfortable. I decided against it. They didn't sell for a whole lot. I am sure it was less than $1000 for the pair. | |||||

| You are both right of course.... You are both right of course. I was not familiar with the PS system, and assumed it was Cado based on photos. I didn't expect such a close match on a different system. Now that I know what to look for everything becomes clearer. Thanks for your help! Anyone tried to use Cado shelves with PS wall mounts? We have a few extra mounts without shelves, but the Cado shelves are much easier to find around here than the PS. | |||||

| Seattle Powder Coat Took my set of kids chairs to Seattle Powder Coat. They didn't have to remove any coating but I'm sure the sandblasting takes care of that. They turned out great and have been very durable despite being well used by my two kids. | |||||
