| Meh. Yes it's early, and yes it's Naugahyde. I prefer this chair's 4-star base to the newer 5-star, but the vinyl would be a dealbreaker for me; I think fabric is a lot nicer on that chair. Plus, if the seller can't even tell the difference between leather and vinyl, how can I believe that he's qualified to render ANY judgment on the chair's condition? I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if the tilt mechanism were broken and he didn't say so because he honestly didn't know it was supposed to feel different. Plus, it's way too expensive even for a fabric c ... | |||||

| Lucky us, suomisue! Suomisue - I loved reading how much you also enjoy your desk! My daughter will be the 3rd generation to inherit ours- she loves it! (I'd be heartbroken if she didn't appreciate her grandma's great taste!) I have other wonderful pieces inherited from my folks. Lucky me! | |||||

| The needle-eye slats are back. . . . . . in a current eBay auction. Looks almost identical to the high-back rocker a few posts above. While the seller notes no makers mark present, they didn't hesitate to throw a little Kofod Larsen and Selig in the heading. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DANISH-MODERN-Mid-Century-Kofod-Larsen-SELIG-ROC... | |||||

Either could pose additional challenges. If you do end up using the ink, be sure it's labelled "permanent" and is a good artist's grade.
| Some black lights don't work so well | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Some black lights don't work so well for picking up urine stains. I've heard it's a quality issue---the ones that do work cost a lot. My son rented a place that had a very strong cat urine smell in a carpeted room and his black light didn't show up anything but there was no mistaking the odor. (Landlord replaced the carpet, thank god.) There are a lot of tips and products available online if you google "get rid of cat urine". The trick will be to find one that works but that doesn't discolor the leather. An upholsterer can hook you up with some down fill ... | |||||
| I never would have thought | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | bj | General discussion | |
| I never would have thought there were such criminal minds, here on DA 🙂 My story: When I was a student (age 19) in Ghent, here in Belgium, I would take lunch with my girlfriend (now ex) at here campus. Something we did regularly. On my route to the university I always passed an old garage, owner lived upstairs. Doors were most of the times open, so when walking by you automatically looked in: 3 eames fiberglass chairs stood between the cars, smudged with oil and grease. I assume Herman Miller wasn't sold much here in Belgium. I know of one dealer in Brussels ... | |||||

| Heard back from the previous... Heard back from the previous owner. He said a cat accident happened a few months ago and he thought he'd cleaned it up well enough. Now that I think of it, the "burned" mark on the leather on the lower back cushion may not be related to the accident because if that was the reason, it should have also left a similar mark on the seat cushion, but it didn't. The thing is they had bought it used as well, so there may be things that I'll never find out. But for now, at least I know it's not human pee........ Wish me luck..... | |||||

| Surprisingly the backing a of... Surprisingly the backing a of both seem fine. In fact, I haven't taken out the filling to thoroughly inspect yet. I don't know if its wishful thinking to think that MAYBE it didn't penetrate into the filling. I'll find out later. If the filling is affected, can I soak the whole bag of down feather into a bucket of urine stain remover from a pet store and that rinse with thoroughly with water and air dry? I welcome other suggestions. And yes, it'll stay in the garage for a while. | |||||

I've been chasing it for a while now, but in fact the half a dozen pieces in found were already sold... Ha!!! I'll have to learn to be patient. Cheers

| . It's just as difficult as to make a serious weather forecast for the next summer. Actually we are still since more than 25 years in the postmodern era, and this era is dominated by a random eclecticism, which didn't yet generate a new "proper style". Well, you might say that every style in the past has been developed from older styles, so every proper style is in fact the result of an "applied eclecticism". There is always a certain point of design evolution which allows to say: okay, this seems to be a new proper style, because existing style elements ha ... | |||||

| Only, it's not walnut or a dark hue varnish. I would say it's black, as is the tray of your trolley. Seems same finish to me? (I'm not so good with wood, but I'm very interested 🙂 I didn't go to Gent, didn't make it. Were you there? I went a couple of times in the past, great to see some nice items, but I like the adventure of finding things disgarded or left, so the concept of the market is a bit lost to me 🙂 But nevertheless a great initiative! | |||||

| sounds like Nelson swag legs it sounds like you have George Nelson swag legs. I had a set of 6 chairs one time and the previous owner had drilled through the top of the legs and added bolts to the legs so they didn't spread. http://www.decophobia.com/pair+george+nelson+swag+leg+daf+lounge+chair+h... | |||||
