| Thanks @bj, the radio is the RCS9 (also the Atelier 1 with the turntable on top) and is by Dieter Rams so is the Regie system that could be wall mounted but needs a wide wall which I am running out of. I have yet to encounter the TS-G by Hans Gugelot and it is probably easier to find there in the EU than here in the USA and probably would cost a fortune if it ever shows up here like my dream acquisition, the Braun Studio 1 hifi unit by Hans Gugelot and Herbert Lindiger. You are lucky to have the Braun PKG3 and G11, these rarely shows up in the USA, I wouldn't mind adding those in the collection. Collecting Braun used to be so much fun a few decades back when they were just being sold as old electronics/small appliances and nobody wants them. Now they are icons of design being included in design museum collections and cost a fortune nowadays. Attachment: chrome_screenshot_Aug-20-2024-2_25_13-PM-EDT.png | |||||

| @Herringbone thanks for the clarification re: who produced it! The price was definitely right, even with the seller knowing who made it! No tags or makers marks that I can see. Some writing on the back, one which I assume was an address and the I’m not sure. Attachment: IMG_3344.jpeg Attachment: IMG_3343.jpeg | |||||

| anybody know who produced these Vista like dressers? At an estate sale picked up this Girard international love heart, David Gilhooly ceramic stuffed olives foot and the vista like dressers from a thrift store. Any body recognize the dressers? The elderly lady was a student of David Gilhooly and aquired the olive foot from him directly. | |||||

| Forum glitch? pop-up thing | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Patrick and Alix, I thought there used to be a section for technical issues but I can't find it now. This has been happening for a few months now and I've almost asked about it several times before. Then it seemed to get better but now it's worse again. This huge window that blocks most of my screen often pops up and I cannot get rid of it no matter what I click on. Then it just disappears for no known reason, only to pop up again shortly after. It doesn't appear while I'm typing a message, only when I've clicked on a thread to read...I think. It seems like mousng over something or other makes it disappear but that something or other seems very random. If I actually click ON it, I am taken to another page altogether. At times it's so frustrating that I just leave the forum. Is it something I'm doing? Do I need to update something?? | |||||
| Is this a thing everywhere? Why all the blue paint? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | jermy | General discussion | |
| In the past few years, lately especially, I've seen so many vintage (usually) and quality (sometimes) pieces that someone has "restored" with a can of blue paint. There have been several times I've run into something that I would have purchased, had it not been altered in some wacky way. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to peel paint off of an Eames shell. But I'm not scraping a Heywood Wakefield chest. Does this happen where you live or am I just particularly blessed with all this Robin's Egg blue paint? At least the one pictured did a decent job. | |||||
| The last thing you made, part 3 | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | bj | General discussion | |
| Thought it was time to start with a clean slate. A barstool I made and just finished. Made out of beech and wenge. The backrest is constructed out of glued up thin slats of wenge, laminated against a curved piece of wood. The seat is solid pieces of wenge, sawn at 3 degrees (like a goldbar) to create the curve, then sanded out. On the lathe I turned pens at the ends of my uprights (wich make the supports for the backrest), and finished them of with a wedge. This is my second project. | |||||

| The last thing you didn't acquire | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | demp945 | General discussion | |
| Has this been done already? I'll start but I'm sure there are many stories sadder than mine. I'm a graduate student in a university town and yesterday was moving out day for most of the school. I was walking home through the student ghetto and as I traversed the blocks of broken IKEA furniture, well-used mattresses, and assorted garbage (tsk tsk) I happened upon a lovely teak dresser with nicely sculpted handles and short tapered legs (rare here). It looked Danish but I didn't investigate. I've been lusting after just such a piece for some time but I have absolutely nowhere to put it here (I live in residence) and absolutely no way to transport it home to join my other meagre pieces. OK, now, you: go ahead and complain. | |||||
| The last thing you got rid of (opposite of acquired) | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Jessica T | General discussion | |
| I like everyone's "acquisition" list, but there's got to be a "I wish I hadn't bought this" list. My personal albatross was this Danish(-ish) sofa set. We just sold this sofa set for cheap, pending pickup this Sunday. After dragging it upstairs, we hated every configuration we put it in, before realizing that we disliked the set itself. Funny enough, after all of our "glamour shots," we got lots of inquiries about it. MCM is hard to find in Nebraska... but those paddleboard arms... yack (!). | |||||
