| You're right, I didn't... You're right, I didn't notice the squared front legs on those. Mine has the rounded slightly outward pointed legs, like the Corbusier-attributed chair and the Ligna chairs. The watercolor in the Lewerentz book has straight front legs (can't tell if they're supposed to be rounded or not, since it's a watercolor, but judging from the overall look, I would say rounded.) and also, it is blue with a red seat. Thonet should have some kind of archive of who designed what and what was licensed to other manufacturers such as SMF Bodafors and ... | |||||

| Didn't Philip Johnson have... Didn't Philip Johnson have to do some embarrasing retraction about his enthusiasm for the Nazis? There was an interview with him at Seagram I think where he freaked out. I can't remember the details but it was kinda funny...all those smartly dressed boys. Anyone know? | |||||

| Thanks! didn't think it's was too... Thanks! didn't think it's was too shabby for $25. I convinced my landlords (my sis and bro-in-law) to let me change the lighting fixtures in the apartment as long as I saved what I took out...in case I ever move. I found this lamp first time out. | |||||
| Tulip Chair Dismantling | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | Fredward | General discussion | |
| Tulip Chair dismantling I have obtained five Tulip chairs from 1981, with six cushions here in Northern California - for $12.00 each. The previous owner could not find the sixth. The poor chairs were left outdoors for a long time, near a swimming pool, and never covered. That the cushions are intact at all is credit to the Knoll company. These are authentic Knoll product, the USRubber cushion pads have a 1981 date on them. The vinyl pad covers are rotted, but I may be able to construct a form to create new covers. At 300 American dollars per for replacement, ... | |||||

| Nanna ditzel, I believe. My scary-fast attribution relies more on my ability to read the legend in the lower left corner than my encyclopedic design knowledge, of course. Edit: Oops! didn't read your opening paragraph before posting-- sorry. Here's a Flickr photo of said chair, attributing it to ditzel, for what it's worth: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lorfiot/2799953366/ | |||||

| oops, I didn't mean to start a new thread Checking eBay's selling violations... They don't seem to include fraud or false information as a violation of their policies, but they do say "Misrepresentation of identity: Members can't misrepresent themselves as other eBay members or eBay employees. While members can have multiple user IDs, those user IDs can't interact with one another. For example, members can't bid on or buy their own items or leave comments on their own Feedback Profile." I wonder if these two sellers are violating this rule??? Well, as we use ... | |||||

| I really didn't intend my answer to be "rude", Whitespike If it comes off that way, forgive me, Lit Up. I offered my best suggestion-- auction houses. And, my suggestion that Lit Up analyze his/ her motive was a sound one, I think. I imagine that all of us -- at some point in our lives-- have found ourselves decorating for the sake of the "status" it will convey to visitors. | |||||

| Dimensions for Richard | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| Dimensions for Richard Here's a drawing of my queen-size Case Study bed. I'm sorry that it's too wide to display nicely here, but narrower sizes made the text illegible. I don't know the sizes of dimensional lumber outside the USA, so the drawing shows actual measurements. Units are inches. The yellow pieces are 1.5" thick; the crosshatched areas have been routed to a depth of 1/8" to provide a seat for the 22" x 74" steel mesh panels. Each panel is fastened to the bedframe with around 20 screws. The red pieces are 3/4" thick; their upper faces are flush ... | |||||
