The Danish folded paper star is both very traditional and very modern, I think. A Danish friend invited my kids and me to her house for æbleskiver and gløgg the year we lived there and she showed me how to fold these. I've made a lot since. They're fun to do once you get the hang of it. They are all over Denmark at Christmas time, in shop windows, homes, everywhere. And lastly, I don't ... | |||||

| Panels Yes. The panels not have matching markings is curious, but the wood is so bizarre - and so clearly matched - that the lack of markings doesn't bother me. As far as I understand, they marked the inside of chairs for quality control, to make sure the chair was all constructed from the same veneer. Maybe that wasn't an issue with this chair, because the panels are so different looking, they didn't feel the need to make it all. | |||||

| Very interesting; if you... Very interesting; if you never showed us the actual images of the whole chair, I probably would have guessed the panels didn't come from a matching set due to the different numbers. I have a 670/671 from the same period and the markings on all the panels match. I don't know if it's crayon or chalk though. Another interesting observation on my old chair (maybe on other old ones too) is that the shape of the seat panel where the shock mount is placed is narrower than the newer chairs; also, same thing about the "wing" part of the lo ... | |||||

| Hey Kin. . . Yes, I've decided to try and sell it. I put a reasonably high price on it, which is basically the price I'm willing to part with it. I also noticed I didn't respond to your earlier comment about no markings on the inside of the chair. There are two faint markings. The top panel seems to have "671" written on the inside in red crayon, or some other very faint type of marker. (I might be wrong about the number.) The seat panel has a different number written in it (14?) in the same marker. The back lower panel and the ottoman have no markings i ... | |||||

| ... as early as 1956 because some claim to have seen 670/671's with 3 screws under arm rests and boot glides produced later than 1956, but not much later. Definitely this is an old chair, but really hard to say how old with certainty unless there's a date stamp. Second, I'd be VERY careful with the zippers because being that old, they may not be able to withstand too much opening and closing anymore, especially if they had been stuck at some time that last few decades. Third, THOROUGHLY check the shock mounts. Remove the cushions; disassemble the panels and arm ... | |||||

| Eames LTR This showed up in the mail today. Seller didn't think it was real due to the lack of label. It's got the zinc finish on the legs. Evidence of two labels, one circular and one rectangular on the bottom. What do you all think? | |||||

| I had one of those chairs and I know the part you're talking about. I believe it's nylon, not plastic. Try the link below--I didn't see that specific part listed but they might be able to help if you email or call directly. This place also has some parts but that bushing isn't mentioned---still, I'd try contacting them: http://www.modernconscience.com/store/page231.html . http://swivel-chair-parts.com/EamesPlycraftAvailablepart.html | |||||

| I would worry if you clearcoated it and didn't get absolutely every square millimeter of surface area. Speck-size missed spots could start to rust and the rust would then spread to under the clear coat. I think. I'm not sure. Just pretty sure. Not that you're seriously thinking about going that route, as you said. | |||||

| Jesus, waffle...you are correct! I would have flipped it over, but it's so fuc%in$ sharp, and I didn't want to damage my Thanksgiving manicure. I would like to hang it vertically outside, unless you or anyone else thinks differently. Many thanks, Aunt Mark creates. ps the $300.(silent auction) included a divine luncheon at Mar-A-Lago...and I can use the tax deduction. | |||||

| ... the estate listing's photo gallery online the night before and in the middle of all these colonial antiques is this strange photo of this amazing sculpture. Totally at odds with everything else shown. The deceased owner was a bank president, when the bank building was vacated he took the sculpture home with him and stuck in the attic. The artist, Davis, was his wife's uncle. They knew who had created the piece, but the lady running the estate sale didn't care about avant garde film making, or modern art for that matter. She couldn't easily look him up in a ... | |||||

| In fact I have an Excellent... In fact I have an Excellent Furniture Company/Aasbjerg catalog with this table and it is listed as solid teak, so if this one in question is veneer, then there either was a veneer version that EFC didn't sell, or there is something "off" with this table. I am sure someone more knowledgeable in the works of France and Søn can fill us in. Onno: not on topic, but did you find anything out about Excellent Furniture Company and Johannes Aasbjerg on your recent visit to denmark? | |||||
