| If I may ramble a bit... I have a mysterious sort of a code I go by with these things sometimes, it's based on my own peculiar criteria and my preference to pay as close to nothing as possible... I once passed on a slightly ragged Bertoia side chair off of a front porch because I didn't want to pay more than $27 for it and the guy wouldn't take less than $30. This may sound ridiculous but if both parties are take it or leave it-minded and things just don't quite match up then an amount that might be perceived as trivial can be a deal-breaker. I have no reg ... | |||||

| @NicolasGlenn Correct me if I'm wrong, but an upholstered shell chair wouldn't have the hockey puck shock mounts and the x-base. It is clear by the ring on the seat bottom that it was used outside. The chair can most likely be dated in the 50's, though an upholstered version didn't come until the 60's. To the OP, for the right price and if you mind taking the time and patience for a project chair, it could be worth it. | |||||

| Teak is what I've been told... I haven't received the chairs yet, but should have them in a couple days. It's pretty dark and looks sorta walnut-ish to me. I didn't know if someone with more knowledge would know about them being produced in teak or just stained dark. Web searching them, I don't see many (if any) with the same finish. | |||||

| Seems to bulky and flat on the sides for Alfred Hendrickx. V-form (Vermaercke) didn't produce such a thing, either. There's one other belgian designer I'm thinking of, but can't remember his name. He designed a sanatorium on the belgian coast and did mostly custom furniture design... | |||||

| Circa 50 still unresponsive! | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | diors | General discussion | |
| Circa 50 still unresponsive! I want to kick myself for returning the incorrect cover they sent. It was right size, but wrong fabric. It occurred to me that I could have someone copy it, but I didn't foresee them going dark like this, or I would have kept it. I haven't given up yet. Will try again, and report back. | |||||

| His convertible Herman Miller table has always been one of my favorites. If I could find one with both tops (circular and rectangular) that didn't need to be shipped here from Chicago, I'd buy it in a second. | |||||

| ... Sweden only operated 1946?1956 so it's not a 1930s stool. Neither is it a Finmar stool; Philip Morton Shand never resurrected his company Finmar after WWII but sold the company to the Dane Paul von Stemann who didn't work with Aalto furniture but focused on Danish design." I wasn't aware of any of this. Is this right? Stew | |||||
