| ... owner brought them with him from South Africa when he moved to California. The seller ended up with them and really didn't care for them, now I have them. They have what appears to be the original leather straps all intact with rivets. The measurements seem right and are slightly scuffed from use but still solid in polished chrome. No makers mark that I can see. I figured I saved a bundle and wanted Knoll to make the cushions. I was told by Knoll that they would only do it for Knoll-marked chairs, so I asked what do they do for chairs made pre-1995? ... | |||||

| I thought Lane was middle end... I thought Lane was middle end in quality right? I didn't know they were consider high end. Also this design does remind of a few American of Martinsville pieces too. | |||||

| hi. Here is the copper wall hanging won last evening. It didn't seem nearly as "southwest" late last night, and will probably be re-donated. It is signed Greg Gowen 1993. The dinner was divine. Aunt Mark | |||||

| Mark... woody is probably right. The splints are thin and probably got dinged up during use, and not too many people would keep a bloody splint around. It was mostly that mine didn't have a wrapper, and was found in a garage, and did not look like it was in mint condition. If mine has been used, it probably only survived because it was fairly clean. It may be a stretch, BUT THAT SPECK LOOKS LIKE BLOOD! It's dark red. And looks kinda like what happens when you cut your hand and keep working on something and you get a little blood on it. I've done that a milli ... | |||||
| I had two different sets in the past | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| I had two different sets in the past and sold both. I always thought both were vintage sets. I bought one at auction maybe 10 years ago and the other at a thrift store a couple of years later. The smaller set had shorter pieces and was in a smaller box with the blue plexiglass cover. The other set was in the same kind of walnut box but about 6" (??) wider and the pieces were maybe 3/4" taller (king/queen). The plexiglass on this one was clear. I've seen pics of these same two sets online. So are you saying that these are being reproduced today? eta- du ... | |||||
| Danish Teak Man Figurine | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | guyinSF | General discussion | |
| Danish Teak Man Figurine This is very minuscule compared to other things usually featured in this thread but I found this little cute charming guy at a local thrift shop for $2 also. I googled but didn't see anything like it, I see lots of Danish viking and troll figurines but nothing that looks like this guy. I just love that his head is shaved off with just one eye and his rope arms and legs. | |||||

| hmmm.... So sorry, I didn't mean to shock you, as I assumed you might have already been aware... I might be wrong, but I dunno, if you look a few inches directly above the stamped "D" in the x base-- a few inches in the photo I mean, as it is large-- (where there is a strong sheen or shine in the photo) it seems that there MIGHT be two to four smallish holes-- filled with light grayish filler of some kind. The sheen on the surface of the shell shows the sculptural edges of a couple of the holes, and the holes appear to be in a pretty straight line. (I refer ... | |||||

| Adrian Pearsall for Craft... Adrian Pearsall for Craft (ironically currently being "discussed" in another thread right now). Not sure which chair design came first: the Danish or the Pearsall. This particular chair design is not in the typical Pearsall style of that time. And if I didn't see the catalog sheet, I would have said with a high degree of confidence that it was not Pearsall. | |||||

| @ cdsilva I'm not selling any replica furniture and I'm not associate to the new craft co. I'm just letting you know that pearsall didn't care about craft associates that's why He sold the company to lane and he start comfort. And I read all your post and all I see is a wanna be dealer that's all | |||||

| splines I just checked mine. I have four side chairs and two arm chairs, and I can see the splines on five of them,...but I assume the sixth chair has them also. I didn't have the best light to examine them under. | |||||

| I saw your post too. ... I'm glad I didn't pay near either $2600 or $699 for it. It was cheap enough that I didn't mind taking a leap on it. I also see that most of the original productions - even by Baker - are leather. It seems like several have come up in this orange fabric over the past couple years. | |||||
| Thanks for the info Pegboard! | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | DHutch17 | General discussion | |
| Thanks for the info Pegboard! Good news, I didn't pay much for it. I was weary of it without being able to see it in person. I was expecially skeptical of the "it's from the 50s and 60s" thing as I doubted it was the real deal. I did see recently that two of the identical chairs to mine were sold at auction in Chicago for $2300 and $2600. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/24670486_danish-modern-chair-2 | |||||

| Well, I guess I partially... Well, I guess I partially take back my comment. I didn't realize that the sides were rosewood. Nice looking set, and one that I would happily sidle up to if I eyed it in a bar. | |||||

Why didn't I think of that? Lazy brain I guess. Hey, does anyone have any info on those white lozenge shapes under the checkerboard labels on kins chairs? I might have one of those somewhere too...
