| Yes Spanky. Thanks for... Yes Spanky. Thanks for askin! The seller had offered to refund money minus shipping and packing charges which were high-$70. That didn't seem quite right to me. She was really not nice about it. Disputed it with Pay Pal and got all but my return shipping fee which was around $20 dollars. The whole situation has made me reluctant to buy much on-line anymore. 🙁 There is a lot of competition for vintage. I think if people haven't been in the business for a while and handled a fair amount they don't know the difference between "excelle ... | |||||

| maybe You could use a pinterest mom for the base? Just kidding. (But now I am thinking Damien Hirst too, I guess, huh?) No. NO. REALLY-- just kidding! But thats been done by that 60's pop sculptor anyway, AND forgot his name? Well, not THAT. He didn't cut em in half or anything. But there was a guy who had people kneeling on all fours holding table surfaces on their backs. | |||||

| Lunchbox I have a deal for you. You stop talking about how sexy guns are (and how extra sexy you are to own three of them), and I'll stop talking about how murderous they are. If you stick to design (or pics with flashy pants), I will too. Mark, what's the new naughty word? I didn't know they were still making new ones. | |||||

| Just picked up a bottle of... Just picked up a bottle of goo gone. Will test it out later on. Here's the story of the "walnut" chairs. They were initially advertised as oak although it was obvious they were rosewood. When I spoke with the seller on the phone, they apologized for incorrectly advertising the chairs as oak. I was thinking to myself: "oh no, are they're going to jack up the price now?" Then they continued: "But I'm pretty sure they're walnut." I told him I didn't care what type of wood; I just like the grain on the chairs =) | |||||

| ... built-in thing is very interesting---I will have to imagine what it looked like before the latex foam lost its loft. The main thing I'd wondered about was where to put the seam around the perimeter--the foam shell has a 1" thick, squared-off edge and I didn't know if the seam was originally on the upper or lower corner (?) of this edge or if it was smack dab in the middle. I'm pleased to see that I guess right on what I did (middle). I didn't do welt but rather a hand ladder-stitched seam which I've seen on the Bramin swivel lounge. The buttons are intere ... | |||||

There are still a few on the market but one is way over-priced for (size, location, and the person didn't do a very good job remodeling)...super cute on the outside but needs work on the inside. I hate when people try to charge more for a home with shoddy 'renovations'. Another home is overpriced for its area and needs quite a bit of work also. There are a couple of others available but they are in really ... | |||||

| summit I have to disagree strongly about Cincinnati Milicron being the best. Many of the Milicron shells have a very dry looking "waffle" pattern on the outside of the shell. It has been enough of an unsightly distraction to be a deal killer for me many times. The Summit shells are far superior in my opinion. The product seems more consistent, and often times the fiber pattern is exquisite and rich. Even when you get to the 1960s and 70s "circled S" Summit shells, some have exquisite fibers. Some later ones are more subtle indeed, but some from the 60's are ... | |||||

| Aside from wrapping your... Aside from wrapping your furniture or cat in plastic, I'm told that citrus essential oils can help deter cats, as they find the odor noxious. didn't work against my cat, though. My cat shredded the grilles on my speakers and put holes in the woofer surrounds. I am considering either something along the lines of a scatmat or some sort of platform covered in adhesive tape to protect the next pair, if either of those methods have any relevance to you. If you don't find the idea morally repugnant, my mother used to use an indoor shock ... | |||||

| ... speak of. The kind of character that comes with age, functional use, and originality. In some ways, it's similar to what is required of a painting to be "art". Once the attractive manipulation of graphics and colors and textures are digested, does the piece stay "alive" day after day? Year after year? Or does it begin to lose something and slowly fall apart and become uninteresting after awhile. I know some say its just a practical matter, and knockoffs have their purpose, but more often than not, with a little patience you CAN find the real thing at reas ... | |||||

| Commentary Thanks, jw468. I didn't choose the chair top with the rocker base in mind per se -- that is to say, I didn't consciously think, "that chair recalls the Eames arm shell." It was free on Craigslist and didn't have a base, but there was something about it that I liked, so I drove an hour to get it. I think perhaps subconsciously I realized the similarity, and while I'd love to take credit for making intentional commentary on Eames, it came together more organically. I knew I wanted to find a base that didn't quite "go" with the style of the chair (in ... | |||||
