| Do the locating pins have a nut on the bottom side of the frame? I know the top needs room to raise up to let the leaves out but didn't know if there was like a spring and a nut on the bottom side of the frame. Thanks in advance. | |||||

| The project goes better now... As I imagined , the use for these ideas, if dosen’t work as a revolution, at least end as a commercial use / advertising campaign. ( At least didn't end in a drawer, and people will see that we are that not that crazy…. 🙂 😉 After large negotiations, the brand accepted the idea, and the first prototype was made. And yes, the logo will be made with solar panels. 😉 | |||||

| Yes, manufactured after 1964. No, not necessarily soon after 1964. The "herman miller" label doesn't tell us much; that style was used from 1970 or earlier until the late 90s. And the list of patent numbers on the other label didn't change much, if at all, after the last one shown above (3,124,390) was added to it. Here, for example, is a chair made in 1978: | |||||

| I found this link on another post in the forum, and it didn't answer my questions, but was interesting http://blog.mam.org/2011/10/07/from-museum-storage-beneath-a-ray-and-cha... How rare is red, anyway? I have often read that it is "rare" but I've never seen specifics on that. | |||||

| Well, I've never seen a bar that I didn't like. Yours appears to be "top heavy" at a glance, but then...so do I. I would like you to grab your best phillips head screw driver, and align the screw heads.... Nice, Aunt Mark | |||||

| cdsilva, thanks--it would be Overman. I thought that earlier but didn't want to say it out loud until I had time to do an image search. Leif--spray adhesive. It's a basic upholstery supply item. Contact cement is overkill and not necessary. But I don't think gluing the fabric to the foam in this case is a good idea. On chairs like this, I shape the foam just a bit by razoring kerfs into it and then gluing the cut edges of the kerfs together. I'm talking small fractions of an inch wide for each kerf. You really don't need much. Then I add polyester uph ... | |||||

| Yes, they are not too difficult to find specimens of on the internet. Mogens Kold did not mark there product very much, but it would be nice to find a marked specimen and then some documentation on the Arne Hovmand Olsen design credit (They might even be on the furniture index; I didn't check). Although, just finding a marked specimen would probably be sufficient that many people would give you the benefit of the doubt about Arne Hovmand Olsen. | |||||

| No, the chair is still in my landlord's garden and I refrained from a life of crime. I eventually became friends with my landlords and now I can't bring myself to steal their chair. Besides, the gardener uses it from time to time to have his lunch. So funny to read this old thread when I didn't speak a lick of French and thought I was moving back to the US after 3 years. The best laid plans . . . Thanks for resurrecting this thread--it was nice to read the comments from old friends! | |||||

| I have something with a similar mark, which I think is pretty common (at least, the way Italy is written out). I posted here, too, but no info, and Google didn't give me much ... there is a website called italianpotterymarks, but it was pretty daunting, and I gave up - you might have more energy for it, and more luck - hope you find something http://www.designaddict.com/forum/General-discussion/different-Italian-c... | |||||
| So--I have mentioned redoing | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| So--I have mentioned redoing my kitchen but haven't posted pics yet of the finished project. Here goes! My condo was built in 1978 so I didn't feel any need to redo in a classic mid-century modern style. I just wanted to remove all vestiges of the awful late 70s look! I actually didn't give a whole lot of conscious thought about what label the finished kitchen's style might have but it turned out to be very Scandinavian, I think. Which is great---it is what I would have ended up with if I'd started out thinking that I wanted a Scandinavian look. I think ... | |||||

Finally I gave up and told him that he was a fool to sell it at his asking price, that it was potentially worth thousands more. He paused a little bit, asked, "Really?" Then he sighed and said, "Ah, well, he's almost here. Thanks anyway." I think about it sometimes, too.

I worry a bit about the socket that Wegner provided on the bottom of his arm, to receive and align with the leg -- because parts of that raised socket are potentially weak short-grain. I guess there's enough meat there to take whatever stresses might occur during breakage or disassembly ?

| Spanky, you're a machine! I think Google didn't sent those options yet in Canada. Honestly I don't know how you came up with all those infos. When I google Effka Mobler I end up with 2 or 3 pictures and no informations whatsoever on the company... I'd like to know your opinion on reupholstery project. Do you think this piece of furniture is worth throwing 2000$ at it (Kvadrat textile + foam and reupholster fees). We love the design, the frame is solid and in excellent condition. I am just wondering if this would be a good or a bad investment considering the ... | |||||

| I'm into either getting totally matching pieces or completely opposite pieces for total contrast. In between matching, which is what you're doing, to me is sort of like you were trying to find a matching sofa for your chairs but you couldn't afford it or you didn't look hard enough so you had to settle for something that was similar but not matching. I think a boxy sofa would create nice contrast with these Paulin chairs! | |||||
