| I really like to see all the things people on this forum get for their homes or in some cases to sell. Today (I am somewhat superstitious and never post an acquisition until the deal is finalized) I got the Ernesto Gismondi Metacolor metamorfosi floor lamp for Artemide. My cost for this floor sample was $200.00 net. I will use this in the corner of my dining room. | |||||

| #6 was getting a little large, so I hope no one minds me starting a new one. Just had this Uniflex dressing table delivered via eBay. Nice design by Gunther Hoffstead, made from teak and rosewood. The poor girl has had a hard life and is pretty battered - especially the top surface. Pretty rare though, I've seen a lot of examples of the alternative dressing table/desk with two sets of drawers, but not one like this. Brings my uniflex collection/obsession up to 3.... The condition and poor ebay labelling explains the bargain (£36!) price. Will post some 'after' pictures once i've given her a clean and some oil. | |||||

| Anyone mind if we start a new thread for this? I enjoy reading about everyone's new acquisitions, but #2's starting to make my browser crash! | |||||

| The last thread was getting a little long so I am starting another to show my newest acquisition and see all the wonderful items (this is how I learned of the Timo Sarpaneva, Saturnus pot for Rosenlew) others have gotten in the last eighteen days. A little over two weeks ago I got the Ernesto Gismondi Metacolor metamorfosi floor lamp as an accent piece for my dining room and today I just purchased the Gae Aulenti, Tour table for Fontana Arte. I now own one of nine pieces in the United States and my landed cost was $2,000.00 new in the original packaging. I will use the existing four Mies van der Rohe, stainless steel black Volo leather flat bar Brno chairs for Knoll Studio®. I am glad that I do not have a small child that requires protection against the edges or thinks it is a riding toy. | |||||

| We need to liven up this joint. In the spirit of fun (hopefully), inspiration, and self-congratulation, please post a photo of a recent design-related item that you purchased, stole (j/k!), or otherwise acquired. Jens Risom library desk, originally used at University of Minnesota. | |||||
| I have this thing about pillows... | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| I admit to being a bit of a pattern-phobe. We've talked about this before and I know a lot of DA'ers are the same. My way of adding pattern I can enjoy is throw pillows. I usually make them myself and I've used everything from napkins from Crate & Barrel and vintage drapes as my fabric source. I'm just finishing up sewing a batch of pillows and a reupholstery job on a hassock that complement my new digs here in Santa Fe. I wanted to pass on a new resource I've found. I hope P&A will let this slide as not advertising but the passing on of a resource for others. I got a total of about 10 yards of upholstery fabric 2 that are Maharam and one that was Kravat. I paid a very good price per yard, amazing when I consider that one of the Maharam fabrics is 100% wool. The place offers only offcuts, remnants and discontinued textiles. Ther aren't a lot of choices in large yard lots, but if you want to redo a side chair or make pillows and such the selection is excellent! http://www.modern-fabrics.com/ | |||||

| The Red/Green Thing | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| On the thread about designing around enormous TV's, several folks have mentioned using red and green in their homes. I have this combination too and it makes me curious. I grew up being told that this was a heinous, never-to-be-used combination. It was barely tolerable even at Xmas. But, depending on the shades used, I love them together. These two colors make me feel alive and connected to nature. It also seems that many other designaddicts like them as well. I have a slightly greyed citron green (like the new designaddict t-shirt ad in the right column)with a deep brick red in one space and an orange-y red and a pale spring leaf green in another space. Who else out there is using a red/green combo? Why do you love it? What shades to you have? Does anyone have knowledge of any well-known designers/architects who favored these colors? | |||||

| Oh, and I wanted to share some quick pics of our Veteran's Day find: Eames ESU desk with three drawers in black, blue, and yellow. Purchased from the son of the original owner. Sold in Berkeley, CA c. 1958. The top it missing, but that problem is for another day. I'll post better pics in a new thread at some point in the future. | |||||
| I collect thing's from the 50 | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | ae9519 | General discussion | |
| I collect things from the 50's and 60's. I'm just trying to avoid adding something from the 70's or 80's to my collection by mistake; it's just not what I want. What is so hard to understand about that? Unless you are going to make helpful and or positive posts on this thread, don't bother. Luckily I was able to answer my own question. The piece is made by Domino Mobler and it's not what I'm looking for. | |||||
