| Estate Sale Venting | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | brbeard | General discussion | |
| ... The item I wanted was one of my dream items, but the estate sale lady dropped it and broke it into a million pieces, and didn't feel like the listing needed to be updated to reflect that. She also took another prominently featured item to an auction house, so that wasn't there either. She left all the books on cats though - cool. Anyway, that was this morning for me. Any other horror stories? | |||||
| Oswald Haerdtl and the little table | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| A few months ago I bought 3 beautiful 1950s chairs by Oswald Haerdtl for Thonet. The girl I bought them from also had a little table wich they always used in combination with the chairs. She didn't know who it was from and I also still don't. I've been searching for quite a while now but can't find anything. So please give me a hand. | |||||
| Tips on Restoring Fibrella Loungers? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | brynned | General discussion | |
| I just got these three Fibrella lounge chairs from Craigslist. The listing photo makes them look to be in much better shape than they really are. My husband picked them up for me, so I didn't see how much work they actually needed until I got home from work. It looks like they were painted with a very thick, very hard coat of beige paint, however it is cracked and chipping off. It looks like the two chairs are yellow and olive green, and the flat lounger is baby blue underneath all that paint. I would LOVE to get these back to their original colors, and w ... | |||||
| Eames Wire Chair? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | phonegirl | General discussion | |
| Hi there, I love this forum and have spent several hours, reading all kinds of posts about Eames wire chairs. A week ago, I purchased the four chairs (see link to my blog). I didn't know what they were but loved the look. My friend says they're fake because: the wire should be coated in plastic (I can't find any like that online), they've been faked since they were first made, the gliders are white (I've seen lots online with white ones), they're always stamped (can't find anything)...the list goes on! I'd love to have covers made but it's probably not a gre ... | |||||

| ... repeatedly to turn the lamp on and off. I am really happy to have it. So, here are my questions: What is the best way to hang the lamp? It's old school so no fixtures included. Just an electrical cord. I don't want anything obtrusive. I want the lamp to be the focus, not the ceiling mount. Cleaning the patina... I do not want to clean this lamp at all but my fiancee, mother, and grandmother all insist I give it a cleaning. I see their point, but I am undecided. IF I elect to give it a gentle cleaning, what is the best method? My grandmother said she cleaned ... | |||||
| Question for Niceguy re: coffee table | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Riki | General discussion | |
| Hey, niceguy--didn't you post on here about 9 months or so ago, a picture of your glass coffee table with the bicycle wheels? I have a room in the chalet that that table would work in, but I can't find your table online. Info, please, and Happy 2012! Cheers, Riki | |||||
| looking for black cushions for low back falcon chair | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | noisefloor | General discussion | |
| like the title says. I'm looking for a set of black leather cushions for a sigurd ressel falcon chair. I have the pad for the ottoman but for some reason my chair didn't come with cushions and I'm having no luck anywhere else on the internet. I'm in the seattle area if it makes a difference. Thanks! | |||||
| Removing Pet Hair from Chair Cushions | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | guyinSF | General discussion | |
| I purchased this vintage Danish lounge chairs with 2 cushions that are covered with lint and dog hair on the tweed fabric. I'm not able to unzip and remove the covers and put them in a washer. I tried using that sticky roller thing but that didn't do much and all the dry cleaners said the same thing, that I would have to take the covers out before they can clean them which I can't do. Where can I take my cushions to to get the pet hair and lint removed without having to remove the covers? Would a steam cleaning place or a carpet cleaner be able to do this? T ... | |||||

| Paul Tuttle Attribution. | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | keewee | General discussion | |
| ... she was living in a multi million dollar home and I was speaking with her assistant who was selling them for her. She originally purchased them in maybe the 60's. Unfortunately I didn't get to ask any questions about where she got them. But the Santa Barbara connection as well as potential original high price point lead me to believe there is some possibility they could be Tuttle (Tuttle designed in Santa Barbara so he might have been displayed prominently around that area). Anyone know for sure or have some definite knowledge that they are not Tuttle? | |||||
| Stam style chair maker? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | cubby01 | General discussion | |
| I've got a pair of chairs in storage similar to these. Mine have a different leather on them but otherwise identical. The seller listed the ones below as Breuer for Stam and then went on to call them Thornet Cesca. They obviously didn't have a clue what they were. As far as I know they aren't either Breuer or Stam and darn well arn't Cesca chairs. Anyone happen to know who really made them or designed them. There are no screws or bolts in them other than holding the wooden armrests on. If you take the armrest off the back and seat will separate from the ... | |||||
| Need some help determining the origin of this pine wood set | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | bj | General discussion | |
| ... it was 'original fir' (what's the same as pine?) and 'made in...' I found this pic online, on an vending site with the attribution to Tapiovaara, made by Laukaan Puu, but I'm reluctant to believe that.. I didn't buy the set (my girlfriend hated it and with the baby, I couldn't take it in the car). But does anyone know anything more? I'm curious! | |||||
| Danish chair?? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | karin koller webb | General discussion | |
| I purchased this chair years ago with a large hole in the caned back. didn't realize at the time that I could have had it repaired. I had thought perhaps to add strapping but never did figure out how to go about it. Recently heard of someone in Port Townsend who could do this.......My question is in regards to the manufacturer of this chair. I see there is a current post of a Hornsae chair that looks 'almost identical' but on close inspection I see that it is different that mine. Does anyone have any information on this. I thought it might be the same ... | |||||
| original Mies van der Rohe MR Chair by Italian firm Bononia (Gavina/Knoll)? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Marchenoir | General discussion | |
| ... all four carried an unknown Bononia sticker/label. Since the name meant nothing to me, I passed along and I didn't even ask about their price. But once at home, I've found in internet this (one and only!) unespected info: http://antiquari.tumblr.com/post/51795871603/designer-spotlight-marcel-breuer-1902-1981 Although the author of the story speaks about the Breuer's Wassily B3 chair and not the Mies MR (or MR40) chair, nevertheless, IF the information is true, I think it is invaluable, and sheds new light on the debated topic Gavina, Knoll, Kiga, etc.. Is ... | |||||
