| ... Danish furniture and might not be aware that there are fakes out there. Is there a US retailer, like DWR or whatever, who would put a barcode on a genuine Wegner chair? Seems like something you'd only see on a fake. There weren't any other alarm bells that went off but I also didn't look at the chair closely at all. The weaving was as it should be for a real one but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I wish I'd looked at the whole chair more closely. | |||||

| Yeah, it's very homemade but I am still betting that there are trendy types who would be happy to pay quite a bit more than the modest purchase price for it. Speaking of splinters (sorta), I meant to add above for those of you who didn't get the pleasure (?) of seeing the RH sheet metal Swan chair in person---there were a bunch of corners and edges of metal sticking up in places where hands, arms, and legs go. Utter garbage. Plus, not comfortable at all. | |||||

| Honestly, the pieces are in | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | mgee76 | General discussion | |
| Honestly, the pieces are in storage until I finish some projects and make room in the shop for them... I planned on taking better pictures at that time, but it still hasn't happened. It was such a long trip that I didn't really stop and inspect for markings. The cabinet attaches to the legs via a sliding lock mechanism, similar to Selig chairs. Legs of the cabinet are solid Teak, the cabinet is veneered. That's about all I can report at this time. | |||||
| Why you have a lovely Batcave | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Mark | General discussion | |
| Why you have a lovely Batcave, Batman! I love to see how others with refined taste dwell. Now...you didn't request my 3 cents worth...but I just have to give it anyhow. I'm a drunkard..and the local village idiot. Yes, the brass tables will look very nice with you new sofa. Love the uplit tree, the drapes, and the concrete floor...and the art, too. Very nice. But gosh.. I'm not batshit about the lamps. Too "Restoration Hardware" looking. And I like your Chesterfield sofa better than the new sofa. (but not the ottoman). Your lamps should be matching o ... | |||||

| If you got glue all the way into every cranny, the split was a tight fit (closed perfectly), and you didn't over-tighten the clamps (glue-starving the joint), Leif's right. It's good as new. | |||||

| hi tfritz_q! thanks so much for the help and insight. also thanks for the keywords! so i didn't post the front which i will try to do here. for some reason the formal qualities of this vase are quite interesting. there is something rather very informed about the use of clay (almost cultural in a way). also there is something very kind of minimalist and brut at the same time. can i just ask you what you make of the symbols on the bottom of the piece? they look like they are a japanese script in some way. but perhaps it is a signature of some kind?! can you he ... | |||||

| Yes, that's just the glass. It'd be interesting to know if he used them for the glass, could be a hint. You make a valid point on the style. His style is indeed very boxy. And no, I didn't come across any particular 'style' wording for the listings I came across. That led me to a safe assumption of the attribution. However, you may be correct. | Carolina Mirror most likely just made the mirrors, not the actual table. They were the biggest producer of mirrors in the US at the time, according to their website. Are you sure the listings you saw for these tables online didn't say "Paul Evans style? Lots of dealers associate non-designer pieces with popular designers in an effort to get better prices. The internet is rife with incorrect attributions; one person makes a claim and a handful of others see it and figure it's close enough so they make the same claim and then it just mushrooms.
