| ... rather than just an auction house. But I've found that for higher end items, there just isn't as much of a market there. When I sold my first item on ebay six weeks ago, it took 3 days for my listing to show up in searches. When I listed my second item three days ago, it took one full day. I called ebay the first time and they explained that there is often a 24 hour lag where the item is present for direct linking, but doesn't return in search results. I do admit the use of the photo from 1st dibs was a faux pas, but like I've said, I wanted to get my listi ... | |||||

I was 30 minutes early, got a call from her saying "I sold it" and that there was a dealer right there wigh a check in his hand(She posted cash only on her ad) I said that I was right around the corner and begged her not to sell to him and that she promised me that I could see it first and that I wanted it! Anyway to make a long story longer...got there 2 minutes later and she and the good looking male dealer was waiting in her garage for me to show up and see it. Anyhow I bought it and he was so sweet he help ... | |||||

| That's a good question. Though a mid-century "day bed" is typically a slab with box cushion and wedge pillows, day beds were different things in different eras & countries (just check out the assortment of "day beds" featured on 1st dibs, below). http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_search.php?A9=1 | |||||

| clarification | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | brent/sarah | General discussion | |
| clarification In my original post I wrongly blamed 1st dibs for my own oversight. In returning to the invoice I noticed the dealer did state on their invoice that the item was attributed to the creator and not by the creator and unfortunately I did not note the distinction. I did purchase this chair directly from the dealer, and not 1st dibs. | |||||

| Tiny I illustrated some of my eBay purchases to show that I bid on and won some fairly sophisticated items that could've been screwed with and passed off as original, or misrepresented in some manner. Yes, I see suspect listings and attempts at dishonesty all the time, but I just pass those by and center in on those listings that I find interesting and that I think are legit. For example, I remember that when buying my Grasshopper Chair, I was unaware that Modernica had their own knockoff for sale. The listing, as best I could remember, clearly showed age t ... | |||||
| To be or not to be... an Eames lounge chair | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Jessica T | General discussion | |
| ... said, First dibs is insanely overpriced. A duplicate to our Jens Risom desk was listed there at $3-4000. We dragged ours out of a local antique mall for $150. We did not that we knew it was a Risom. We just liked it because it was solid, sturdy, and had beautiful lines. Several months later, I went scrambling up the stairs, shrieking, "Guess what our desk is?!" and soundly scared my husband. But, despite all that, we'd still love it, even if it weren't a Risom. I think that's a good argument for keeping your Eames knock-off. If you loved it for years an ... | |||||

| Plycraft Hi Kyle, I've reposted the ad on CL describing it as an eames-style chair attributed to plycraft. Still trying to get SOME of my money back while I'm dealing with the seller via 1st dibs (who probably will not compensate me!). I'm asking 1,100. Maybe someone will like it enough to pay that price. Who knows. My friend came over and said it was a plycraft. At this point, I'm so confused I don't know what to think. Thanks for the help. | |||||
