| Not Milo | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Not Milo yes, that's what I'm saying. The chair is often misattributed to Milo Baughman, even by fancy dealers on 1stdibs. I called Thayer Coggin directly, and they said they did not manufacture the chair, and Baughman did not design the chair. So it seems like one of those common mistakes, like attributing the barcelona daybed to Mies van Der Rohe. My question is whether anyone knows the designer/manufacturer. Some of the 1st dibs chairs reference Cy Mann, but I can't confirm this. I'm trying to solve the mystery of the attribution, and to find out if ... | |||||

| I am so impressed! thank you very much! Oh my...very clever...I did search 1st dibs some time ago but must of searched by wing chair rather than wingback cause I did look thru...what a great lead...do you think Lost City Arts will respond to me? I was starting to think someone with a haunted vision came up with this one-off...love it in white wool! thanks very very much | |||||

| ... since part of the purpose of a shade is to shield your eyes when sitting in a chair beneath the lamp and to hide the 'works' as well. Seems to me these shades would fail at that regardless of how killer they look. I always wondered if the cone was the best shade for these...as you can see the huge shade on first pic is so top heavy...the tiny one on dibs is too small...they came with burlap cones so perhaps that was the original format and would be just right...too damaged to keep of course. | |||||
| I have the same credenza | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| I have the same credenza Jesgord - did you ever find out if your credenza was actually Knoll? I have the same piece, with a glass cabinet/hutch top. I went thru the same logic as you did w/ the Furnish Me Vintage link. Other dealers (on 1st dibs, etc) identified these pieces as Knoll, but when I contacted Knoll (the company), they weren't able to identify the model#s on the rear -- but I'm not sure how hard they tried! thanks.... | |||||

| yup I was just there. Nice site good prices. I am 99% sure it is the original stuffing. I pulled off some of the upholstery and you can tell the stuffing has been there since manufacture. I found a couple of examples of this chair online. The best (with the best pics) is on 1st dibs..I'll include a link. It looks pretty puffy as well It is possible that this is the original upholstery. It's pretty tired and pretty aweful. So I have no reservations about showing it the door http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/chairs/mid-century-oversized-sl... | |||||

| ... the seller states "This floor lamp was designed by Gerald Thurston with this new mobility in mind." --what's "careful" about this language? It's a flat lie, unless Thurston designed the lamp. $699? shit, even 1st dibs sellers would call it "in the manner of" and charge $499 max. me, I paid $40 at a flea in Vegas ten years ago. never needed rewiring yet. no complaints! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-Lightolier-Reflector-Floor-Lamp-50s-Mid-Cent... | |||||

| Nice chair, profile pic? A quick google says an extant Swedish IT/media group existed in 1978 by that name, similar font, same initials. Another chair on 1st dibs, seller says it was made for a compnay called Bra Bohag, some Swedish Scottish links, again a company by that name still exists and seems to sell a lot of vintage Swedish things, contact them? http://www.brabohag.com/?tag=swedish | |||||

| It is most likely not brass, ... It is most likely not brass, simply a lacquer that was used to give a brass colored finish. I've seen it on Laurel and Thurston lamps to name a few and was commonly used in the 50s-70s. It comes off quite easily if you try to clean it. Many people will call it brass plated without actually investigating, just assume. I can't see all the pieces you are referencing to judge, just the 1st dibs piece. But in my experience what you are seeing is lacquer - not plating. | |||||

| ... not even a dealer but I'd do a little research before I stuck a 1300 price tag on a globe. Walnut after market piece from Mexico in the 50's? Hmmmm. Wish people were getting better advice about their collections. Aren't the sellers on 1st dibs supposed to be the experts? https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/more-furniture-collectibles/globes/mid... | |||||

| It certainly looks like the s... It certainly looks like the same chair. Provided that the 1st dibs seller's attribution is correct, it looks like you have a Kofod Larsen chair. However, there are a few pieces that are often misattributed to Larsen. It's a really nice chair either way. | |||||
