| ... is), a sad story about how I was engaged and we couldn't afford a sofa. The sofa was in bad shape with one side caved in. After 6 months of begging she let me have it. I paid around 700 bucks to have it redone professionally and later traded it even for an Eames lounge + ottoman. A few years after that, right before I traded it, a friend who worked in the building scored 3 great Knoll-esque Steelcase sofas (the tufted ones with stainless legs). I had one redone, and that's when I traded the other. He only got them after telling the supllies manager he neede ... | |||||

| seat cushions My mothers hanging teak shelves had aqua accents (cut into wood)on the cabinet door, just like the seat cushions. Was aqua an "in" color in the 1950's? I like it, now that I have seen in with other items to tie them together. diana | |||||
| good deal definitely | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | hb675 | General discussion | |
| good deal definitely In August I had an appraiser give me a price "to sell to a dealer" on a sibast sideboard, of $3500. It is a different style, with short legs.I posted the pic way back in June. Remember the messy sideboard, lol. Well the appraiser said the thinner legs were more popular. LA prices are higher, because everything is twice what the rest of the country pays.(USA) Diana | |||||

| i started this When i started this thread several month a go I was somewhat pissed off with 1st dibs, nothing has changed , I sold a kagan table to one of the most reputable stores that deal in mid century modern furniture in the country for 350.00 he made a modest mark up and said he was happy selling to a dealer in California on ebay for 600.00 plus 125.00 shipping now there is 725.00 total in the piece. I think i paid 600.00 for it in 1979 . and it did need a bout 50 bucks worth of re glueing the lucite . I ... | |||||

| I dont agree While some of the bands you mentioned are, in fact, one hit wonders, many are not. Ask the average person over 30to name 3 Prince songs and I'll bet he can do it. Same goes for a 15 year old and Britney (even I hadnt forgotten: 'Oops I did it again', or 'Toxic') Its true that some of the designers you listed also have their big hits but that doesnt hold true for all of them. I'd say Lecourbusier's LC4 (chaise) is more iconic than the LC2. I'd say I see more Bertoia side chairs in daily life than I see diamonds. Sarinen's womb chair is ubiqu ... | |||||
