| ... one must do an extra few "corners" to keep the weave square. I didn't have any trouble doing this myself, it was only later when the millimeter or so less or more than 90 degrees on each turn began to add up. I attributed this to the stiffness of the Danish papercord that I was using (bigger diameter than the usual stuff). Maybe I'm wrong though. The narrator said that the chair is so difficult to weave that only two guys know how to do it. Maybe what he really means is that those two guys do it better than anyone else, which is probably very true if th ... | |||||

| ... bring back but there was just no money for that kind of thing. Instead, I went to the beach for a walk in bitter cold weather and saw all these big, smooth granite stones. I gathered as many as I could carry in several trips to the car, which wasn't parked very close. Just about tore my arms outta the sockets carrying them---they are HEAVY. I picked ones that were between 4" to 8" diameter. It is now 12-13 years later and I still have all of them save for a few that I gave to friends (and some are on loan to my kids). I keep most of them outside near t ... | |||||

| The size of the parabolic solar concentrator? I imagine them, diameter 100 metres. The picture is powerful, like a film scene, you concentrate all the solar power of the universe in one point to burn you, once in a life time. Then to the wind, the totem, or where ever. | |||||

| What washers are you talking... What washers are you talking about???? The only time there was any kind of "washer" on these chairs was the "experimental" shock mounts with the exposed washers. That washer was the same diameter and fused to the rubber shock mount. That, and the loose washers on the Zenith chair mounts. | |||||
| Threaded Nut | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Todd V | General discussion | |
| Threaded Nut You'll probably be looking for a threaded sleeve or a threaded T-nut of some sort. If you go to the hardware store with the machine screw and find a nut that fits perfectly, write down the thread pitch and diameter of the nut. That is the size of the female sleeve or T-nut that you will have to find. I recall that on my chairs, those female sleeves are mostly hidden under the vinyl. So, I do not know exactly how they are attached or what they look like. My guess is that you'll have to carefully epoxy it in place while making sure that none o ... | |||||

| Gudme catalogue The table does not feature in the GUDME catalogue i have. It may not be theres as all Gudme table have laminated edges and not octagonal block edge like yours. There are any number of danish makers from Skovmand & Andersen to Randers and many more that produced "generic" in-house furniture of good quality for export sales. Have had several from 39½ inch / 43 inch / 47 inch diameter all with the block edge. | |||||
| Super-cheap macro lens | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| Super-cheap macro lens SDR: If your camera is a point-and-shoot without interchangeable lenses, you can make an adequate macro lens for approximately no money: Just roll some heavy paper into a tube -- 2 inches long, diameter equal to that of your magnifying lens -- and wrap it with duct tape to make it light-tight. Duct-tape your pocket magnifier to one end of the tube, then tape the other end over your camera's lens with something easily removable like masking tape (but make sure no light can leak in). Voila. Your magnifier is now held more-or-less sol ... | |||||

| Gluing wheels?? ....you should be able to find any number of rubber wheels from a multitude of sources available for replacement.online and locally...you would need only to take measurement, with a set of calipers if possible, of the outside diameter, the thickness, and the inside diameter through which the bolt passes...appears to have a slottled head on it so i would assume it is removable.... p.s.- looks very much like a rollerblade wheel may do the job....may take some shaving here and there, but you would then have wheels with sealed bearings....great f ... | |||||

| U.S. websites that sell... U.S. websites that sell paper cord for Moller chairs tend to state that a 2 pound roll is enough for one chair. That was my experience doing Moller chairs. Sorry I do not know any of the European suppliers, but I would guess there should be something close to you in the Netherlands. Also: 1/8 inch diameter paper cord tends to be stated as being 250 feet per pound. So, 500 feet to do a Moller chair. | |||||

| ... and more coarse than paper cord but it ages to a lovely golden brown color. I don't know who is saying that 3-ply paper cord is so much better than 2-ply paper cord. I think as long as the cord is the same diameter and the plies are tightly twisted, they should compare well. It probably has more to do with the quality of the paper used, anyway. I had some paper fiber rush that looked kind of like Danish paper cord but it was much lower quality paper and didn't wear nearly as well. It was a single ply but I don't think that was the problem. It seemed li ... | |||||

| ... I can assemble, and then you can finish it to your liking. I'm assuming that the seat and back are made from Baltic birch plywood. Probably the best thing to do is to shoot me an email (ernstpeischl@gmail.com) to iron out the details, if you would like to proceed to the next step. I live in the Chicago area. If you do want a kit, I will radius the edges for you, but you would sand the radius on the ends, and then finish sand (I use 220 paper) the pieces.
