Another on 1st dibs | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Modern Love | General discussion
Another on 1st dibs The previous examples I showed had 2 finger pulls per sliding door, while yours only had one. This variation also has just one pull on its door. It also has round legs instead of square like the others.

Golly, getting sick of people grousing about 1st Dibs | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | barrympls | General discussion
Golly, getting sick of people grousing about 1st dibs Yes, most of the stuff is overpriced, but at least they show the damn price up front (as long as you sign-in). Many of the DA's sponsors play the P.O.A. game, not providing up front pricing. 1st dibs are not only the MCM source to be overpriced. Ever check out Rewire? But, geez, they DO get amazing stuff and it's a useful tool to see what some dealers consider to be on the higher side of pricing. (check out Tri-State's prices...very high too....) You can also bet that most of the stuff being offered is i ...

I think 1st dibs is a great... I think 1st dibs is a great resource and I use it all the time to look up stuff.Sure almost everything is overpriced and quite often the attributions are wrong buy all in all I like it. I have actually also purchased a table through one of the dealers there and I reckon I got a bargain.I had already haggled with the guy and was "thinking it over" when in fact I was waiting to bid on the same item at a live auction, the live auction item sold for 2200 to someone else and I bought it from 1st dibs for 1000.The one I missed at auct ...

First Dibs is often overpriced... | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | Cloudburst2000 | General discussion
First dibs is often overpriced... While occassionally you will find a decent deal on First dibs, I find that they more often than not tend to be overpriced. I can usually find much better deals by looking on ebay, auction houses, other dealer websites, etc. But then First dibs is just the showcase where sellers show their goods. It's the individual sellers who are overpricing their merchandise. I think many of these sellers think us buyers are complete suckers. I've seen some things on First dibs that have been there for months because they are so over- ...
Comparing ebay and 1st dibs... | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | Killian | General discussion
Comparing ebay and 1st dibs... Comparing ebay and 1st dibs is wrong.1st dibs is expensive and it is easy to buy most of those items cheaper if you do some searching but you cannot compare an auction site to a shop. Most antique dealers buy at auction and then double or treble the price, which is exactly what the dealers on first dibs do.But as the dealer who spoke in this thread stated they spend some time putting together collections that they feel strongly represent their shops image.

1st Dibs Paris | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | magpie | General discussion
1st dibs Paris Although I've found many of room606's comments very irritating and overwhelmingly naive, I will answer the Paris Flea Market question. 1stdibs was first created by Michael Bruno as a way for the dealers in the Paris Flea Market to get their items seen around the world. As it was very successful, he decided to open it up to a select group of dealers in New York and a couple of other cities. It was supposed to have a cap of 250 dealers last year, but obviously that has changed, since it seems that new dealers appear every week.
1st dibs= flea market | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion
1st dibs= flea market I agree on certian aspects of the topic, but what diminishes the value of many of the products on the website is that they have very high end furniture mixed in with flea market worthy furniture. The way the products are listed is just boring and uninspired.
We need 1st dibs | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | designite | General discussion
We need 1st dibs It is a nice virtual shop for some finest antiques items in the hands of merchants. You do not have to go places anymore just check 1dibs. I am using it as a price indicator such as WRIGHT.20 the famous design auction place in CHICAGO. In a global environment, like the Mac Luhan concept of village would be described. 1stdib is a still photography compared to auctions majors such as Christies, sothebys which are the snapshots of the design market. That's the way the antique business goes from brick and mortar boutiques to click and mortar bus ...
already had first dibs | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | freshcutgrass | General discussion
already had first dibs First of all...I love that site. Two main reasons...one: it is a great resource. And two: I enjoy finding the identical item I bought for $75 CDN listed there for $1200 US...or $3800...or whatever. Don't we all like our egos stroked (even if it is a false sense). But...I don't buy the high rent excuse at all. They could just as easily move that merch out the door by pricing it accordingly, and pay the rent. You can be sure Starbucks is in the same neighbourhood, paying the same rent. Do you think it is a reasonable business move t ...

1st dibs I see some pretty cool stuff go through www.1stdibs.com. Product varies wildely in price but you'll see things from 200 dealers and get an idea of prices being paid. The have a pretty good search function to narrow your interest to mid century. Good Luck. http://eboniste.com
RE: Danish Dining Table but who was designer/maker? | 2 Relevance | 5 years ago | danish nut | Identification
thanks Mark and again to you Lexi. I now think its reasonably clear the table is by AM Mobler. Thanks for pointer to the the 1....dibs ad. Pretty well identical in form to the table I have with one point of divergence....the absence of the wedges on the underside. Maybe an earlier version. Would very much welcome other contributions and in particular information concerning the designer of this table or sky designers that worked with AM Mobler. Thanks again
