| Lucite magazine holder ID? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | cubby01 | General discussion | |
| Looking for a designer/maker and date for this one. Hoping someone here might give a pointer. It measures 21" tall, 16" wide, 11-1/2" deep. 1" diameter acrylic(lucite) side pieces bent into arches secured together by 3 brushed or anodized aluminum(?) rods. Additional acrylic rods fit into it create rungs to hold papers or magazines. (Rods are approx 3/8" diameter) I'm thinking late '60s or '70s. A bit of a Dorothy Thorpe influence I think. My web searches have not turned up a maker nor even another one exactly like it. I did see one on 1st dibs which is ... | |||||
| Mid Century Lane Chair Style ID | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | cdsilva | General discussion | |
| Last weekend, I picked up a mid century Peter Hvidt style chair at a vintage store as a refurb project. Upon poking around the internet, I thought I successfully ID'ed it as a Lane Perception 222-70 dining chair. However upon closer inspection, the frame details do not exactly match the 222-70 photos I've seen online. In particular, the turned legs step out to a larger diameter at the seat rails in mine, versus the smooth no-step details for the 222-70. Additionally, the chair is marked 305-70 underneath. I know that the Acclaim line had two style numbers (9 ... | |||||
| Does anyone else think this roll up chair is good? | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| I am talking about the concept of a jointed chair that rolls up into a cylinder? I strongly prefer this approach to a Rube Goldberg folding frame. But I don't think jointed wood is the answer because of the complexity of manufacture and the required thickness. If this could be made cost-effectively from thinner material and with a higher back, it would become the ultimate beach chair for millions. A cylinder with about half that diameter would be ideal for slinging over one's shoulder. | |||||

| Carlo Nason for Mazzega ? | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Hello, I have been presented this ceiling lamp, blue glass, looks hand-made, but I don't know too much about glass, it's just a guess. height 70cm (28 in.) diameter 28cm (11,2 in.) The seller thinks it's Carlo Nason for Mazzega in the 1960's. After days of research I couldn't find anything even remotely similar. Anyone here has seen any lamp like this before ? | |||||
| Vintage USA made ball chair | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Joshua F (USA) | General discussion | |
| ... very nice. About 6 inches more diameter than the repro we have. I know Treadway had two for auction not that long ago, but there was no info. I know it is not anything that special, but I was curious who might have made the chair. I was told it was certainly late 60s early 70s manufacture...and there are some aspects that lead me to think that might be the case. Any thoughts? My research over the past couple weeks has produced very little. God knows enough companies many their version of this, but for an older copy, I rather liked it. Very comfortable. ... | |||||
| A couple of Stelton questions | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| 1. Some of Arne Jacobsen's Cylinda pieces have been modified since they were first introduced. My old condiment set, for example, has different-sized pepper and salt shakers while more recent versions of the set have equal-sized shakers, and my old serving tray has a smaller diameter than current-production trays. Does anyone happen to know (or know where to find) the history of these products in enough detail to tell me when they were changed? Stelton USA is only an online store, so they weren't any help, and Stelton Denmark hasn't yet responded to my ema ... | |||||
| HELP. Wondering if my cord is too thick? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | mypdxgem | General discussion | |
| ... and can barely weave 3 rows. The cord leaves huge gaps and cannot be placed in aligned rows. I'm wondering if we received the 3/16" cord by accident. Our receipt says 1/8" but I saw that there is a larger diameter available on the website and ours measures significantly larger than 1/8". After reading all your posts I did not think this should be this difficult, especially for my husband who is a woodworker. I have emailed Franks and I'm hoping they can exchange. | |||||

| Q about Marek Cecula | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| I have a broad (18-20" diameter), shallow salad or serving bowl. Its white with a quarter inch wide red border around the bowl's rim. The bowl is marked Marek Cecula on the under side. Cecula is listed on DA, but this bowl looks quite unlike the items pictured. Just wondered if someone could offer some general commentary about his work and where he fits into the modern, post modern, neo modern spectrum? Also what period of his career my bowl might be from? | |||||

| Picked up this nice frosted table lamp yesterday I've taken it apart but can't find any manufacturer's name on it The whole thing is rather well made About 44 cm high with the wooden base and a diameter of about 12 The glass itself is half a cm thick around and about 1.5 cm on top i have to say that al the electrical works look newish but the rubber that keeps the glass in place looks well worn so hopefully it just has been rewired Any Ideas on the maker or is it just another table lamp 🙂 http://d1t1u890k7d3ys.cloudfront.net/cdn/farfuture/ZevXIXllw9bpw9-ciM ... | |||||
