| Knoll Saarinen Tulip Table | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | Dodolah | Identification | |
| ... asked Knoll directly and never got a direct answer from them. Do you all know if Knoll ever produce a 17 3/4" width and 20" height Saarinen side table? Every google search for authentic Knoll Saarinen Tulip table yield a search result of 16" and 20" diameter. And, never an 18" (45.72 cm). Any info will be appreciated. Thank you. | |||||

| Is this an original Aalto stool? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | toomanychairs | Identification | |
| Trashpicked today. Yes, it has a globby paint job, and it's in very rough condition overall. Looking to strip, sand, reglue, and lacquer. I am optimistic. Is this the real thing, produced by Artek? I am leaning toward a yes, based on the following. PRO: 44cm high, 35cm diameter, apparently same as the originals. Bent legs are solid wood, not ply, with four splines in the tops to accomodate the bend (see photos) Photos of other originals seen online also have the small hole at center of seat underneath CON: No veneer edging; hardwood joints in seat visible o ... | |||||

| Seeking clear glass hanging bud vases | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | missmsimms | General discussion | |
| I visited Italy a decade ago, and found an area with fine interior design shops, and bought three small clear glass globe vases, approximately 3 or 4' in diameter. They featured a bendable wire that wrapped inside the glass, and also came through the neck of the glass so that you could hang the vases after putting little flowers in them. Adorable - special - gorgeous. I loved them. Until? my young nephew visited and shattered them! Have you ever heard of these? Can't seem to find them anywhere here in the US, and don't remember where I bought them in I ... | |||||
| Help ID side table in Eames House | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | DJV | Identification | |
| Dear All, In the Eames House living room is a nice side table. This side table is green-colored, has a heart-shaped top, three legs and seems made of a metal species. I have added some images to this post. The table is likely one of their collectibles. Can you help me identify the origin, dimensions (height x diameter in inches) and material of this adorable side table? More images of this table are welcome as well. Thanks! | |||||
| Mystery Chairs - Breuer Influence? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | finders9 | Identification | |
| As will be evident I'm a bit of a novice - but recently purchased a set of the classic Breuer chrome and cane cantilever chairs to use around the dining table. The two arm chairs are similar but not matching, as seen in the photos. Not only is the cantilever reversed, the seat and back join, and the scale is slightly larger (diameter of chrome tube. The side chairs I bought from the same family probably date from the 70s - these appear a bit older. I'm interested in learning more about these unusual chairs so welcome any/all comments. thanks | |||||
| 670 Lounge Chair Base Bushing/swivel Question | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | Kyle James | General discussion | |
| ... issue is that I cant for the life of me get the current metal bushing or mechanism out. Ive tried many methods carefully and didn't want to damage anything as the metal is bronze on the current chair and the replacement is also bronze (dents and bends easy). so far I have tried these methods from the bottom of the base. 1. Removed pin with the hefty little tool kit it came with (very easy) 2. created a felt tip metal pole in exact diameter of the swivel mechanism from the bottom. 3. used wd40 and let it sit for 2 hours 3. used the metal felt piece I made an ... | |||||
| Alvar Aalto Stool - Right Legs Wrong Seat? | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Sarah Wilson | Identification | |
| ... in blue vinyl and this looks to be original as the lip of the underneath of the seat has been reduced so that the vinyl sits flush with the base of the seat. The patina of the seat and legs also fit together. The other factor that appears wrong with the seat is that the diameter is 37.5cm as opposed to the regular 34.5cm. As the rest of the dimensions of the stool are correct i.e. width = 38cm, height = 44cm, this means that this stool will not stack with a regular stool.Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanksSarah | |||||

| Look at this weird finish on my Kofod-Larsen hoop chair | 1 Relevance | 12 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| I got this chair about six months (?) ago at a local thrift store and did nothing to it except for making new cushions, which I'm very happy with. But the finish on the wood has always bothered me. I know a lot of them have a stained look to them and I'm not even sure what the wood is--the hoop and seat are plywood but the spindles and base...?? Maybe birch? There's not much grain pattern at all.Anyway, it looks to me like someone added stain to it after the chair was already finished. There are areas on the underside ... | |||||
