| Good points Spanky! True, about the extra nail in one side. Probably does not make a difference in the final outcome, but if you are going for the most authentic restoration possible, every Moller (side and arm) I have ever taken the time to count the nails on (admittedly this is only about two dozen or so), has had the difference in nail count. I wont go into the reasons of this hypothesis, but I believe 19 is a better number for the F/R rails of the arm chairs. One other pointer that I forgot to add on my earlier post .... you will probably want to pre-d ... | |||||
| Teak Coffee Table ID Help? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | scottlindberg | Identification | |
| Can anyone help me ID this teak coffee table? Unfortunately there are no labels or marks ... and I'm not having any luck with my Googling. It measures approximately 43" in diameter by 20" tall. The two most distinctive features are: 1. The central cutout, which appears to have once had something set inside. Approximately a quarter inch of that inner top surface is slightly discolored, which makes me think that something went in there. 2. The conical mounts where the legs connect to the top. I've included photos of how that assemble looks/works. I'd appreciat ... | |||||
| Gino Sarfatti, could anyone please help me identify these lamps? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Pieter | Identification | |
| For the past weeks I have been helping my parents out with getting rid of their old stuff at our local marketplace in the Netherlands called marktplaats. Among the things I tried to sell were a couple of 30cm diameter ball-shaped milky glass lamps bought around the eighties in Amsterdam at a store called Indoor with I identified as being Gino Sarfatti (by googling for two days...). After receiving many reactions on the add several people expressed their doubt of the origin and because I'm no specialist on the matter I hope for a objective opinion. I hope som ... | |||||
| Round walnut table help | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | flyingpatricio | General discussion | |
| With the design of this table is it possible the stamp of Nov. 1942 on the underside could be correct? There are a couple other stamps #348 & Design 120379, of which the 9 is suspect since it's blurred pretty good. The patent # is totally obscured. The table is made of walnut lacquered in a natural tone. The feet look to be steel. It has a 26" diameter and is 16" tall. | |||||

| Quistgaard Table by Dansk | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | guyinSF | General discussion | |
| I found this table at a local thrift shop and I know nothing about it. It's signed IHQ which is Quistgaard but when I googled "dansk table" or "Quistgaard table" this particular design doesn't show up at all. Does anyone know anything about this table? I would love to know the name of this design, date of the design and how much it's worth. It looks like some kind of bleached oak wood but I'm not sure. The underside of the table top has a smaller spinning lazy susan part attached. It's roughly about 20" high with a 19" diameter. Thanks! | |||||

| ... the wood from being dinged, banged up, getting wet and maybe even too cold or too dry. Tinted lacquer was often used on light colored wood species to give them the look of walnut or teak or even wenge---still is, sometimes. There isn't a good way to restore it, at least not for amateurs. A pro might be able to dissolve the lacquer enough to spread it around but that's very tricky to do. It dissolves within seconds of applying acetone and due to extremely rapid evaporation rate, it will dry before you can even spread it. If you oil wood with this finis ... | |||||
| Robsjohn Gibbings table or not | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | ZooMob | Identification | |
| Hi, Just picked up this table last week, and am trying to verify if it is Gibbings for Widdicomb. My gut says no. The legs look right, and the height is correct, but the diameter of the top, and the edge is wrong, as all of the verified ones I can find have a square edge. Please excuse the whitewash finish, I bought it from a furniture "repurposer". Are there known knockoffs of this table? Maybe a replacement top? Thanks | |||||
| Any ID on this 1960s floorlamp? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | diors | Identification | |
| I want to buy this lamp but the price is a little high. I can't find a similar on the web to find a lead for a designer. I'm researching Sonneman, but nothing yet, and I don't want to lose it. The shade is 12 inches in diameter. Any thoughts, dear DA posters? | |||||
| Sciolari chandelier??? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Easy E | General discussion | |
| I picked up this chandelier & was hoping to find out the designer/maker. There are no markings, but it seems in the style of Sciolari. It has four sockets pointing up...and four pointing down. There are no bulbs installed, it takes regular base bulbs. I'll probably put in 3-5" diameter round bulbs. | Anyone Have an Extra Glide | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Bonefish Bob | General discussion | |
| Well I finally found two Arthur Umanoff bar stools to round out my collection. The only problem is one is missing a glide. They are the ones with the brass cap / foot and the plastic glide on the bottom. The inside diameter of the cap is right at half an inch. Sorry no attached pic but I can email one if needed. Any info or link to find one is most appreciated. P.S. I've Googled and checked the usual sites to no avail. | |||||
| 1950s Italian Small Brass Low Level Side / Coffee Table - Gio Ponti Style | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Sarah Wilson | Identification | |
| Hello I've found a lovely small brass glass topped coffee table which is very much Italian 1950s in style but I can't find anything else like it to indicate who designed and made it. It's constructed of brass with black enamelled legs and a circular glass top. Height = 26cm, Width = 52.5cm, diameter of glass = 47.5cm. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Sarah | |||||
| Information on side table by Fritz Hansen | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | DrPoulet | Identification | |
| Hi all, I have just picked this cute little side table by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. 4 legs. 47 cm high and 58 cm diameter. Made in 1966. For some reason the previous owner have painted the top black.. I believe it is laminate under the paint. I have looked everywhere but could not find information about this particular table with these dimensions. It seems that the "standard" dimensions are a little bigger (ca. 70 cm). Do you have any idea of the model number? Oh, and although the paint job is nice and it looks pretty good as it is, I would like to rem ... | |||||
| broken staved teak platter - how to repair it? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| ... broke along the grain, not along a seam, so that's...good, maybe? The break is perfectly clean, no missing slivers or chunks. I don't have any clamps besides C-clamps, spring clamps, and three of the shortest length bar clamps (too short for this 11" diameter). The back of it is perfectly flat. This won't get a ton of use and when it does get used it will just require a quick wipe and rinse to clean, then immediate drying. Given all that--what kind of glue would be best? | |||||
| Hans Wegner Round Table? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | CristinaW | Identification | |
| ... I am use to seeing as far as teak. Almost looks like a rosewood color? The table is round and measures 45" in diameter. It is an extension table, but unfortunately, the leaves are missing. The only markings to be found on it, are on the underside - it is stamped "33" in two places, and with a sideways "3" followed by a "33" again in two places on the opposite side. The last photo shows the mark on the chairs... If anyone can shine a light on this table for me I would appreciate it! Thank you, C | |||||
