| I found it both | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | koen | General discussion | |
| I found it both interesting and revealing. Interesting because it shows more Gehry buildings than I could ever affort to visit and revealing because, in spite of his friendship with the film director it shows certain aspects of his design methods that I think of as less positive. In a certain way it confirmed my believe that we do not have extra ordinary talents, but we have people that instinctively or deliberatly ignore certain aspects of their design work and in doing so they almost inevitably do extra-ordenary work. In the whole documentary there is hard ... | |||||
| RE: Knoll Saarinen Table Screws - Can't find a matching replacement | 1 Relevance | 8 years ago | tktoo2 | Repair | |
| First determine standard (English or metric), length, diameter, and thread pitch of the existing screw. In the US it's called a "flanged button head" screw and appears to have a black oxide finish. Similar can be found at either McMaster-Carr or Fastenal online in North America and/or specialty fastener suppliers. | |||||

| koen, i'm feeling a bit like young skywalker talking to yoda. the dialogue I am reminded of goes like this: Yoda: Yes, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice. Luke: Vader... Is the dark side stronger? Yoda: No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive. Luke: But how am I to know the good side fr ... | |||||
| Good writing IS designed...Designs future may be redesigned..... | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| Good writing IS designed...Designs future may be redesigned...Pt.1 Writers in all genres of writing have tools to work with just like designers do. Writers use words, phrases, sentences, cadences, rhymes, diction, punctuation, paragraphs, chapters, dialogue, metaphor, similie, symbolism, and mythology the way designers uses line, scale, massing symmetries, color, references and probably much more I do not know about. Writers work in literary forms, like the novel, the limerick, epic poetry, 1 act stage plays, 3 act stage plays, 5 act stage plays, 3 act scree ... | |||||

| Are there any good resources out for the Hardoy BKF Butterfly Chair? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | FLagent | General discussion | |
| I am trying to research my BKF chair. I believe it to be an authentic original Knoll chair, but I can not find any good info in making that determination. I was hoping someone could share a resource or any info on determining whether a chair is a knoll or knockoff. dimensions, location of welds, diameter anything that would be used in authenticating this. Thanks!!!! | |||||

| ... Autocad is good but is much more dry and better for cnc cutting and advanced engineering, 3ds max gives virtually photorealistic renders (I might put some of mine up) but there is a steep learning curve! But the best part is you can buy 3d models ( google turbosquid) and download them from many furniture manufacturers (eg. fritz hansen) and insert them into your scene, change the proportions and the materials...its endless. The absolute best thing you can do with it is simulate the movement of the sun throughout the day over a building or group of buildings ... | |||||

| I.D. this tulip pendant lamp? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | fotzepolitic | General discussion | |
| I'm curious, does anyone know if this pendant lamp is based on a known design, or not? It appears to be an amalgamation of Fog & Morup's Semi tulip pendant lamp and the Poul Henningsen PH5 or 4/3. But I can't find any styles that PH did like this (nor did my research turn up anything out there that precisely resembles it), and it doesn't quite fit the description of the classic "Semi" pendant. Sorry for the crappy photo, its the only one I could obtain! So I will describe what you are seeing: The exterior is silver (spun aluminum), interior is red. The top o ... | |||||
