| ... the left or right then you are in trouble as it will be a coded skeleton key which has several teeth cut at different lenghts. Each tooth lifts a small spring loaded plate in sequenze until there is enough room for the flat face of the key to push the lock plate back. If you have other cabinets which are not locked take the lock out and you will find a number embossed on the side of the lock/ number = key code. If you had or can find a list / diagram of the skeleton keys 1-9 then you are in business!! Carl F in denmark USED to sell the range in bags of 100 ... | |||||

| Yeah, those are almost certainly unique custom fasteners. I'd get out my dial calipers and poke around the McMaster-Carr site to see what might be jury rigged and put the originals on the front of the chair. Worst case, you can always through-bolt the rear to make the chair useable. A machine shop could always make accurate-enough replacements, but at a cost... FWIW, I think what you'd need are a pair of "socket nuts" (my new nom-de-web) of the proper dimensions and a section of threaded rod to join the two. | |||||

| ... new ideas. The result is often that one expects a kind of surprise and satisfaction that comes with "discovering" a product on a store shelf or magazine. As a designer you never experience that about your own products because the idea develops from an initial start to the final stage through small, intentional and visible steps, which can not be the same as being confronted with the final thing. One of the advantages is that it is never good enough and so one continues. It can also turn into a disadvantage in the sense that it seems a discouraging process. ... | |||||

Any cup-hinged door can get out of adjustment; the homeowner should be informed (perhaps with a diagram?) which of the little screws on his hinges to manipulate, or he should call the cabinetmaker back for a touch-up adjustment -- many will do this at no charge, but they won't do it without being asked! | Snelson invented tensegrity but Bucky | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Snelson invented tensegrity but Bucky Fuller coined the name and researched it independently. Fuller did a lot to make it look like his own invention, which alienated Snelson. Snelson was originally inspired by Bucky, though. They met at Black Mountain College where Bucky was a visiting professor, and Snelson an art student. (Joseph Albers was teaching there at the same time.) Funny thing is, Snelson has done other work that looks like stuff Bucky did, but I can't find out who did it first. I've never read anything about it from Snelson, though he certa ... | |||||

| I like the sound of tktoos tecnique. The full lee valley sharpening and scraper sets are the bomb. The little tool for rolling the edge is fantastic, just dial what you want and it comes out fine and I dont remember it being expensive. Both sets took me from producing crappy edges to excellent in a week or two. | |||||

| ... the first step. To learn how to make well balanced, interesting shapes is a much longer learning process that starts with problems that are less complicated. As others have pointed out, a product is the result of giving form to one's understanding of the functions, within the possibilities of materials and technology. Only when these elements come together at the right time (when the product is needed) you will havce designed a real product. In other words design is a four dimensional activity and the result has the same dimensions: Function/Culture(from) ... | |||||
