| dishracks | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | HP | General discussion | |
| I freaking hate dishracks and most of the time using them I feel like I'm about to burst into tears or start smashing plates in frustrsation. Most of the time I just put a tea towell on the bench + leave all the glasses on that and use the rack just for plates. Stupid question but why can't we all just have one plate size, one bowl size and 2 cup sizes or whatever and one dishrack designed to accomodate them? Makes me yearn for a communist utopia. | |||||
| Good flatware cheap dishware | 2 Relevance | 21 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| Good flatware cheap dishware Richard Meier for Swid Powell flatware. Beautiful quality, perfect balance, great style. Matte black asian-inspired dishware from Target. Looks great and tolerates daily use and abuse. I've also got some gorgeous raku fired japanese stuff that I only haul out occasionally as it has to be handwashed. I've got one vintage Russell Wright platter that holds the feasty-beastie. BTW, we tried brining our turkey this year. It was amazing, delicious and down-right astounding. Got the recipe from Alton Brown's Good Eats on Food Network. I ... | |||||

(a few of the glasses though, have gathered a bit of cloudiness). but again i have dozens. and use the same 12 or so for everyday use. i plan on picking up some dishwashing powder from Whole Foods. may not be as harsh? i've switched all my other cleaners. just keep forgetting about the dishwasher. | |||||

| The Distance Between Designer and Person Designed For Pt 4 | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| The distance Between Designer and Person Designed For Pt 4 By the end of the 20th Century one has evolved from a rural/small town consumer with modest income battling decreasing, but still considerable isolation and communication friction to a largely urban/suburban consumer with more disposable income, vastly greater freedom of movement, vastly more choices to choose from in goods and services (though, ironically, vastly more oligolistic provision of any particular good or service), and vastly greater access to information in vastly quicker time to access it ... | |||||
| Disinformation | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion | |
| Disinformation Jeremiah, you may not have had to fight for the chairs you have bought, but you have certainly lost chairs to underbidding. I know because you attempted to offer me $125 in at two separate instances where I was selling Plycraft chairs. I politely declined your offers and continued selling the chairs at the asking prices of $600 and $350. And both sold. What I should point out is that your emails always have the same 'informative' unsolicited advice - that the chairs aren't worth nearly as much as I'm asking, and that you'll gladly 'take them off my hands' for a mere fraction of what I'm asking. I find this to be a cheap trick by dealers. As someone who has dealt in modern furniture (for much longer than 2 years) I have an ethical standard that I operate under - if someone asks me how much something is worth I will honestly tell them. I won't volunteer the info unless asked, but I certainly will NOT lie to someone and tell them a deflated value. | |||||
