| I first saw a tower "disguise... I first saw a tower "disguised" as a tree driving up toward Lake Tahoe in California. Had someone not been in the car who was able to tell me what it was, I would have been left dumbstruck that such an ugly mutant tree could even exist in a forest of otherwise healthy ones. I am sure I would not even have noticed the tower had they just painted it dark brown. | |||||

| Distinction Just to draw a quick distinction between what happened with Olive - clearly a theft for profit, and the mischievous idea of 'adopting' something clearly neglected and putting it in a lovely home. I certainly wouldnt steal something for profit, and I'd almost certainly try to find some way to legitimately acquire any said objects. That being said, I have -on occasion - been known to exaggerate my reasons for wanting a certain piece. Instead of telling someone that an Eames DCW is an Evans production from 1946 I might disguise my enthusiasm by say ... | |||||

| Weirdly, I do think I'd rather see Venice dissappear rather than have it be artificially maintained. I guess I'm a bit odd on my reasoning, but I'd rather see things left alone to be what they are and age as they will. I certainly wouldn't suggest putting paintings out in the rain as they were never intended for such treatment, that's a bit of an absurd thought, DCW. I don't favor intervention really, I am happier to see things left alone. In the US, in New Hampshire a rock formation known as the Old Man in the Mountain recently fell off. It was a natural fo ... | |||||

| Disgusting? I've never seen a thread bragging about having paid full market value for a piece. Is the blog in question, whether believable or not, more egregious than the hundreds of "check out what I got for $20 at a garage sale" posts on the DA forum? | |||||

| Disgusting Perhaps we should add a few hand grenades to the side along with a snub to make it extra special. A few skulls of 18 years old boys being drawn into wars they don't under stand would add an authentic touch also. A turban for a head rest also a great option also. Odd we require auctions to raise funds for people we send to die. I will never get over how we justify paying boeing 800 Billion a year (Near 3 Trillion in the last 10 years) for war weapons and to cover a million dollars for 4,000 soilders would equate to a mere 4 Billion. | |||||

| Using the term "disgustingly hideous " is fair ground for me to take offense. How about "not to my liking" You apparently don't get why I react to your statements, and I also don't think you understand why I feel the way I do. Go ahead, and continue such graphically negative terms for those things you personally don't like. No problem...but I can thank my lucky stars I'm being taught a class on 20th Century Modern design from you! | |||||

| I spotted this oak dish in a thrift today and thought it looked a little different than the usual New England woodworker project. Flipped it over, saw the signature, and somewhere in the depths of my mind I thought it was kind of Russel-Wrightish. Turns out yes. Or maybe his forms were influenced by his wife Mary's designs? The little guy is a Russian cosmonaut from back in the day. | |||||

| ... really take it off, because there would be a visible hole. And the knob is quite practical. So I was thinking of replacing it with something like the knob in the link below. What do you think of this solution? And does anyone know where I could find this kind of knob in Europe? I have searched the web in vain. Or do you think I should use a different kind of knob all together? Thanks a lot in advance! http://www.rejuvenation.com/catalog/products/round-dish-knob/items/cabinet-knob-round-dish | |||||
