Hello everyone, another unidentified piece of furniture I have... hoping to get some help 🙂 is anyone familiar with this room divider/screen paravent? The diagram is of Palladio’s Villa Rotonda. Sort of burlwood veneer with a coast of glazed material on top. Very heavy piece too... thx in advance! Attachment: 242E48A5-8EC9-4E5A-A65A-E8AA44BA53CD.jpeg

Distracted? I consider myself 'VERY INTERESTED' in design. Mostly mdc design, though not exclusively. I have acquired some significant pieces in the last twenty years of living here on the Olympic peninsula. I'v been visiting this site for approx. ten years. Am I feeling distracted by any of the current dialog regarding snappies, or whatever ANYONE post? No, as in NEVER! This is the go to site for me when I have questions. I constantly refer friends and total strangers here. I do wish for one or two minor changes (Arg)..when the Recently Acquired tag ...

"What's the diameter of the pull you want?" That's a good question. By the looks of it, the original one appears to be 1in total diamater with maybe a 3/4in inside. I'm hoping someone can confirm. I think the bigger issue is finding one in that diamater with a depth that isn't too deep. the pull is on/in a pretty thin piece of melamine. Most of the pulls i've seen are thicker and are intended for use in pocket doors and such. These have a deeper profile and would protrude too far out the back of the material if that makes any sense.

I happened across a 7" diamet... I happened across a 7" diameter shade, and decided to make a Noguchi cylinder lamp for myself, following the same construction details as the originals, although my shade is not of the same material, and the legs are teak, rather than cherry.
Two Reasons why Ebert didnt like it (contains spoilers) | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion
Two Reasons why Ebert didnt like it (contains spoilers) One is Wachowski Bro's tendency towards self indulgence. Yes, they are quite possibly the most radical filmmakers of the present time - but still, self restraint here and there is a good thing. Speed Race dragged on in some bits, dazzling though it was. A lot of the action sequences could have been edited slightly. Also - about a half hour of dialogue could have been edited down. Two: I'm guessing Ebert never saw the original cartoon. The Wachowski Bros were very faithful to it - perhaps to a fault ...

Another point to discuss: It seems to me that we are focusing a lot on the function and the technical feasibility of the object, which is normal! If the vase does not do its job, it is useless. If it's impossible or excessively difficult to produce, it's just an "exercice de style", fun to do but a bit vain. So, I would like to read you about the sociological and symbolic values of this object. Not only designers point of view! Everybody of course is concerned. A vase is not a neutral object, it is at the center of relations, exchanges between human beings ( ...

i disagree this site should be for the exhange of ALL information, and be an advisory regarding the good, bad and indifferent of the design providers who serve us. after all we have to BUY the furnishings we discuss here, and from where and whom to buy is an essential part of the dialogue. in the past few days, from reading these threads, i have for the first time the names of companies with whom i will and won't do business. it could take months of networking to get this kind of info. please, all, continue sharing such info. and i agree with those who feel ...
