| RE: Hans Wegner dining set (FH) | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | David77 | Repair | |
| Hi! Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, it’s a gorgeous dining set (same owner for 60 years)... I agree with you, vintage forniture has to retain the patina. I was wondering how I can get rid of the grime (especially the legs have a sort of grey socks). The seat back of every chair seems to be discoloured/dry as well. Do you think I should use an oil to clean/polish? What about the colour of the backrest? There is also a small fresh chip (damaged incurred in recent transport) on a backrest... | Ah, yes. The gray "socks". Some have good luck with warm wood soap products while others swear by lubricating #0000 steel wool with oil finish and rubbing away. I prefer to use either naphtha or white spirits, an old course-weave linen dish towel, and a fair dose of elbow grease to give all surfaces a good rub-down. This should remove most if not all grime, wax build up, and other accretions without damaging existing finish or altering the color of aged wood. The dark areas at the feet are possibly caused by shoes and/or repeated exposure to harsh floor-cle ... | |||||

| Also, any "Danish" oil finish product will do. Just try to buy it from a source likely to have fresh product and follow directions printed on the container, especially those regarding safe rag disposal (I burn them immediately). | |||||

| Is this a danish dining table and do you know who designed it | 2 Relevance | 8 years ago | danish nut | Identification | |
| I recently purchased this rosewood dining table requiring restoration. It's a quality item with a couple of distinctive features that I hope will enable someone to help me confirm its danish and identify the designer. The edge of the table is moulded above a deep apron. But perhaps the most unusual feature is the top of the table leg with its tenon, dowel and slotted configuration. Hopefully someone out there knows more about this design and designer than me and is willing to share their knowledge. Many thanks in anticipation | |||||
| Saarinen Oval Dining table base question. | 2 Relevance | 10 years ago | Joshua championship | Identification | |
| I have this oval tulip table here which I believe is not a genuine Saarinen table, but I just wanted to double check if anyone had any knowledge of the base attachment. The only thing that makes me think it could be legit is the fact that the base isn't directly screwed into the table. Thoughts? | |||||
| Neils O Moller Dining Table Identification | 2 Relevance | 10 years ago | Kathy-Kat | Identification | |
| I inherited an extendable Moller dining table imported from Denmark in 1966. I hope someone can help me identify which model it is. Original paperwork from Imperial Mobler says: dining Table no. 436 in teak. However, I believe this model number is for the store catalog, not the Neils Moller model number. Table has one leaf. It measures 51 inches long without leaf, 93 inches long with leaf; width 35-5/8 inches; height 29 inches. Could be Moller Model 12A? I don't believe its Model 9 - no black feet. And I don't believe it's Model 12, as it is only has one lea ... | |||||

| I have a Leon Rosen for Pace Collection dining table that I bought at Pace Collection store in Los Angeles in the 1990s. I looked on-line and there is nothing like it listed for sale. It supposed to be one of a kind. I would like to sell it, but I don't know how to appraise it. Any ideas? Pictures attached. Thank you! | |||||

| Restoring Niels Moller Model 78 chairs and Arne Vodder Model 212 dining table in Brazilian rosewood. | 2 Relevance | 10 years ago | Katie BH | General discussion | |
| Hello all, I have just inherited my grandparents' beautiful pre-1970 Niels Moller model 78 dining chairs in solid rio rosewood with dark brown leather seats (or perhaps they're vinyl - but definitely original) and a magnificent Arne Vodder model 212 rio rosewood oval dining table. They are badly sun-bleached, having spent the past 40 years in my parents' home in the south of France. I have wanted this furniture all my life, but am saddened at the state it's in. The overall condition of the solid wood and tabletop veneer is good, except for the severe bleachi ... | |||||
